You are wrong, the old series was E2xxx E4xxx and E6xxx, the E7400 is actually newer than the E8400 but it's a cheaper series, with half the Cache no virtualization (well some) and lower FSB/clock rate (it's lower by 200mhz but if you want to overclock it might give great results due to the higher multiplier).

I do agree with getting the E8400 if it's affordable as it's a great CPU that even at stock speed wont dissapoint.

i can confirm that Wink
I don't think his board will take an E8400..

For some reason.. the same E8400 puts me off it lol... I'd much rather get the E8600..

Tongue
got the e8400

great choice. Im running at 60 fps always, with aa x4 and 1200x1024 resolution. PS2 games have never looked so good.

Thanks for the tips.

On a side note, i sold my 925 pentium d on ebay for $75, haha.
Oh, and to anyone out there with a pentium d. the new beta without micro vu enabled, but with macro vu on will get you some significant speed increases over the alpha version.

hope it helps! (buy a new processor, its well worth it)
If the game is propperly configured you should have no problems. I play FFXII with my C2D 2.4 mostly at 60fps (1280x800 internal res and texture filtering), this with older revisions of gsdx, since newer ones seems to be slower. Of course this doesn't count the cutscenes, but they run quite smooth too. Anyways, I was about to say buy the e8400 since bigger caché but I'm glad you already have it.

Always remember this: You can always Overclock a CPU (this means have more speed), but you can't upgrade the caché. I'll pick a slower CPU with bigger caché anytime knowing I can OC it to match or surpass the other CPU, and providing both are of the same family and age of course.
i have no issues with this game even tho my laptop cpu is clocked low (standard)

core2quad Q9000 @2ghz 6MB l2cache
4GB ddr 3 1066mhz
GT130M 1GB

i run 85~100% constant
