Huh?
I'm guessing your talking about missing textures as a whole in all of the games? I know there are ways to "force" DirectX10 on XP, but I don't know if it will give you the results your looking for.

For example in KH1, when you get near an object some textures will disappear like in wonderland, when you get close to the "card-man". It also happens in some games like Persona 3. I heard that only GSDX10 fixes that issue.

Software mode has the same effect as DX10, however you are limited in resolution of course

I tried to upgrade to vista today and I got this error.

dont do an upgrade from within windows, do a fresh install, its cleaner, safer and quicker. just make sure you back up everything you need from that drive. Besides, that "error" is pretty bogus and not even worth worrying about
or if you have space, partition and dual boot vista

especially recommended if you plan to use the 64bit version of vista. the downwards compatibility of vista64 is surprisingly good, but there are still some issues i experienced, especially with games (mass effect, crysis warhead). pcsx2 seems to run great though.
