I can play Kingdom hearts perfectly (apart from screen tearing) on my PC AMD DUAL CORE 2.6GHZ

I recently got a Phenom AMD processor triple core

I've read that an AM2+ chip can work on a AM2 board, but when I popped it in, I gto a blank screen?

any ideas guys? is it perhaps the pins? I don't know how many pins this pehnom has but it fits in the same slot as my dual cores
According to Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socket_AM2%2B) you are correct in your believe that they are compatible. But your motherboard's bios might not support the CPU. You'll have to check out the bios specifications for that on your motherboard's website.
Also, wrong forum for this as this isn't related to plugins in any way, and should really be in Chatterbox.
blank screen? no buzzer? sometime the buzz give a info about what wrong, check the mobo doc
As Aemony pointed out, you need to check if there's a newer BIOS for your motherboard. If you don't know how to do it, just tell us what brand and model your motherboard is.
sorry for the late reply guys I got caught up with SF4 on ps3 lol

OK so here's the name of my Motherboard, this is what DX DIAGNOSTICS READS:

GeForce6100PM-M2 V2.0

my BIOS is Phoenix - Award WorkstationBIOS v6.00PG

My current CPU is AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5000+ Brisbane at 2.6GHz

MUCH APPRECIATED GUYS, PEACE
The BIOS stated in dxdiag isn't relevant in this case, but write the System Model instead.
Many softwares can tell you what motherboard you have, among which Everest and CPU-Z.
Your motherboard might not support it..

Also.. when you say Phenom, do you mean Phenom original, or the Phenom II?

As the Phenom II won't work.
Also, your board might not support the Phenom you've got... I had an old Asus board that would only go upto a Phenom x3
got this from ecs:

CPU Support:
AMD Phenom™ processor (Socket AM2+)
AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 Dual Core/ Athlon™ 64 / Sempron processor
High-performance Hyper Transport CPU interface.
Support transfer rate of 2000/1600/1200/800/400 mega-transfers per second.
Note: This board supports CPU up to 95W TDP only; you can refer to AMD website to check your CPU.

yes the board is support ph x3, but IMHO the chipset is so weak, its worth replacing it with better chipset
I doubt this should be here, this is the plugins general help.
