My FFX copy will freeze and crash every time I get to the summoner's sanctum in the al bhed's home base when when rikku is telling Tidus that Yuna's final aeon will kill her after she defeats sin. Any advice?

nVidia 130m
core 2 duo 2.4 ghz
4 gb ram

This was fixed in the betas as far as I know, try using the latest one

what pcsx2 settings/plugins are you using?

Yeah i had the same problem, tried everything and it still freeze at the same point in the game. Latest beta solved the problem.
