2D games run slower
#1
is there any trick to make 2D games run faster?

Capcom vs SNK2 which has 3D backgrounds runs perfectly @ 60fps
but games from Street Fighter Alpha Anthology or King Of Fighters 2002 Ultimate Match run very slow.

i tried all kinds of settings.. maybe i didn't guessed the right combination

system specs: Intel E7400 2.8 GHz, 2 GB RAM @ 1066 MHz, ATI HD3850 512 MB
edit button doesn't work for some reason

forgot to mention i run latest version of PCSX2 with the latest plugins

Try with gsdx.0.1.7 if that can help to increase FPS and i hope you play pcsx2 emulation in OS Vista.

Nothing. But dx10 is faster than DX09.

ATI HD3850 512 MB <-- you have succumbed to the GSdx/ATI texture bottleneck. Get a Geforce, and 2D games will run very much faster.

Shouldn't 512MB texture 'bottleneck' be enough for most things unless you're running with a pretty high res and/or Anti-Aliasing (Since they take up texture memory) ? xd

It's not so much that as the way ATi made the decision to make resolves part of the shader rather then a dedicated unit.

Even that, dx9 on vista is faster than WinXP for ATI cardSad. LeShark you may want to try on Vista.
