I remember Rama or Air saying that this is THE most demanding game under pcsx2. So demanding that it make the emu crash.

or its only playable with a high-end pc, but in ultra slowmotion?
can you get ingame without errors in softwaremode?

it does work in software mode, you just have to be patient with the super low fps of the opening, rest of the game play at 35 fps on my rig.

It works in software mode, add some frameskip and a good CPU and you can get very playable speeds. I get 50-60FPS normally like that and I'm about half game and there are some scenes where it slows down more than others.
Even if you get slow speed the definition of playable is stated in the compatibility as "You can get from 'new game' to 'end credits'. This is regardless of FPS, it simply means you could with a great deal of patience, complete the game! eg: Slow, but stable!" probably because you can eventually get hardware fast enough to get it full speed
