By horrible do you mean ultra slow?
What is your pcsx2 config? Especially for GSdx.
If you want GSdx to work okay, do set the renderer to "opengl Hardware"
Your GPU should be OK. CPU may be a bit weak, did you enable any speedhack? you might want to slide the speedhack level to the right a little and see if it makes things better.

Could you please provide a screenshot of the graphics problem also?
To add, what is your gpu driver? Nouveau or proprietary Nvidia driver? Hint: Proprietary is best.
OS: Linux Mint 17.2 64 bit (occasional Antergos/Arch user)
(I am no longer a Windows user)
CPU: Intel Pentium G3258
GPU: Nvidia GTX 650 Ti

It's a known problem with hardware mode in FIFA games and requires fbmask fix which is currently only implemented in opengl mode. Use opengl mode and enable full blending unit accuracy and you will get much better graphics. These games run almost perfect in opengl mode apart from some grass texture bugs in lower half part of screen.
And if you are willing to play in software mode then you can simply press f9.
For sound, what backend are you using in spu2-x(portaudio? SDL?) I suggest you use portaudio set to alsa(there is the option just below). Tell me how it goes.
If this fail, then try SDL+pulseaudio(Same as for portaudio, choosing pulseaudio is done by looking at the option box below).
Careful what other programs run on the side, depending on your distro, firefox can avoid pretty much every other software to have sound for example......
