So would it be beter to go with the nVidia 9600GT 512 DDR3 over the 9600GT 1GB DDR2?
My Spec's are:
OS:Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit
CPU:Intel Core 2 Duo E4600 3.0GHz
GPU:Nvidia GeForce 9800 GT 512MB GDDR3
SPU:Intergrated Realtek HD Audio
Graphics: GSdx 890
Sound: SPU2-X 1.1.0
Controller: SSSPSX Pad plugin 1.7.0
Cdvdrom: CDVD 0.1.0

In my opinion, there is no need for 1 GB of memory for a graphics card of the 9600GT series...since you will need more than 512mb on extremely high resolutions,which this card would anyway crawl if you used them
I'd say go for the 512mb one.

So, sound's like it's a nVidia 9600GT 512MB for me then. Does anyone know how it preforms compared to my nVidia 8400GS 256MB?

That one on newegg is a low profile one so i can't say i'll get that. But it's only NZ$30 over budget so i'll heavily consider that one. Has anyone got it? How well does it play PCSX2?

But would I see an improvement over what I've got in PCSX2 for Final Fantasy XII?

8400GS is a super slow cr*p, sorry. Even though 9600GT isn't the top it would fly compared to 8400)
