I have a quick question. I would like to patch the game iso and play it on original ps2 hardware. How do I get the values which should be patched for exmaple with silent hill 2:

.patch file values:

patch=1,EE,210E4C14,extended,43A8F5C3 // 43E147AE X-RES

values which should be patched:

initial value (4:3)
AE47613F 0000803F 0060EA45 00000048 00000000

changed to (wide)
C3F5283F 0000803F 0060EA45 00000048 00000000

Did you try the greatest hits version usa or director's cut pal version yet? (they got more modifiers in the .pnach file because the address hook accepted a larger values with no problem) Probably not accepting the address hook, whatever its called, the mastercode latches on to.  Give me two or three days, because I'm so lazy, I'll see if it works on my fat ps2, if you don't find a working one, there's one game I've been meaning to play around with.  Zone of the Enders 2 Pal Special Edition, works great with gsm and opl in pal mode, vfix to ntsc patch throws x and y axis, and gsm in ntsc mode does not work well with it (Zone_Of_The_Enders_The_2nd_Runner_Special_Edition_PS2DVD_NTSC_Patch-PS2CHIMPS.ppf ... that works but stretches the screen slightly, now the only thing I haven't tried was to use gsm in ntsc mode after that to see if it still looks good, otherwise the game works find in the pal video mode, just something I haven't tried to remedy the problem).

Use the whole content of the .pnach file.

Need some help running a patch for Biohazard (Resident Evil) Outbreak File #2, Japanese version (although the text has been translated to English with a patch).

So I downloaded the widescreen patch files for the game (6FCA6FBD.pnach and DC0BFB60.pnach and put them in the cheats_ws folder.

I enabled the widescreen patch option under System and made sure the emulator runs in 16:9 aspect ratio in Config > Emulation Settings > GS Window.

After restarting the emulator, my game is now in 16:9, but not widescreen, it's simply 4:3 stretched to 16:9.

Just to make sure, I also added the .pnach files in the cheats folder (as well as keeping them in cheats_ws), and enabled cheats under System, still the same.

What am I doing wrong? I read/watched all the tutorials and all my steps are correct apparently, what am I missing?

PS: I forgot to mention that I am running an emulated HDD and the game is loading from there. But I tried running the game as an ISO and it's also not working in widescreen.

In PCSX2, go to Misc > Show Console.

Boot the game, and read the console to see if the emulator actually finds the patch.

Also ensure the CRC displayed in the console log matches the CRC of your patch filename(if it doesn't then rename the file to match) as patching a game(to English, for example) will change the CRC.

Odd question: While I've been finding games to tweak to 21:9 (Ultrawide) widescreen, should that go here too or maybe collect those in a separate thread?

SILENT HILL 2 (VW047-U1) V1.20 ... Didn't Test the Widescreen Patch for the Standard NTSC Version, has 9 files in the "data" folder in the iso. (You said it didn't work, so I just skipped testing it, similar problem with DMC 3 where you need the pal version to apply the widescreen and controller remap patches, scroll a few pages back, fortunately the Greatest Hits Version Works, so I didn't need to test the pal)

SILENT_HILL_2_GHIT_US__201 ... Tested the Greatest Hits Version Widescreen Patch NTSC Version (Works in Fat PS2), has 13 files in the "data" folder in the iso. (OPL_976_DB_all ... VMC does not work, In Game Reset works with Mode 3, VMC works for Silent Hill 4, and Silent Hill 3 ntsc, mode 3).

(Had to remove one or two values from Twisted Metal Black to get it to work in a fat ps2, you don't need to do that or use the cheat engine, grab, "ps2_patch_engine", then drag and drop the Silent Hill 2 Greatest Hits .pnach file and then the .iso file into the program and hit patch)
