I've been holding off on buying a new gaming laptop for about a year now. Is there any new tech coming down the line that would boost speeds for PCSX2?

Ivy bridge is the example and it's coming for this month and month of June for laptops.
you should have both desktop and laptop
because laptop is "farther" different from a desktop power.

about Ivy bridge here
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ivy_Bridge_...tecture%29

for laptops on the newest tech
get at least i5-3360M

for desktop as main emulation computer power.
get at least i5-3570

My PC for PCSX2:
a Desktop:i5-2500(3.3Ghz~3.48Ghz),8GBram,HD5750,MSI-H67,Win7(ULT/x64),Win's Exper. Index-->CPU:7.5,GPU:7.3
a Laptop:i7-720QM(1.6Ghz~2.11Ghz),4GBram,HD5650,Win7(Pro/x64)
a Netbook:N2600(1.6Ghz/4),1GBram,Win7/STR

I would still say, don't bother buying a gaming laptop, it's still slower then a fullblown PC, and not to mention even if it's a gamer laptop it'll still get quite hot.

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-990XA-UD3 AM3/AM3+
CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 980 Black Edition 3.7 Ghz (Stock)
Memory: Corsair Vengeance 16 GByte DDR3-1600 CAS10
Graphics Card: Club3D Radeon HD 7870XT JokerCard 2048 MB
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64
Sound Card: Logitech Z-Cinéma 2.1 Speakers (USB) 180 Watts RMS
Monitor: Samsung Syncmaster EX2220
PCSX2: 1.1.0.r5554

You should disable turbo limiter to stress your CPU and burn it ^_^

Intel® Core™ i7-2600K Processor overclocked to 4.70 Ghz
Cooler Master Vortex Plus
Kingstom 4GB 1333Mhz DDR3 RAM
ASUS P8Z68-V Motherboard
Sapphire Radeon HD 6850
Western Cavier Blue 500 GB
Cooler Master GX 550W
Cooler Master Elite 430

cpu's may go to 100c and the gpu 80 so he is in the clear Tongue

ot

i got a medion 6816 erazer with an i7 2670 and a gt555m and i can run every game on fullspeed cept (probably havent tried out because i dont have them anymore :C) shadow of the collosus and gt4, i can even run dragonquest 8 with 2x native on full speed that took me by suprise lol.

but if you dont travel much then go make yourself a decent gaming rig but seeing that you already have an i7 you should overclock that sucker and get a new gpu instead. 1366 cpu's are still good so i dont see the reason to buy either a gaming laptop (or you must travel much) or make a new comp from scratch.

actually Silicium has a melting point of 90 degrees Celcius or higher. Also f.e. I let my pc shutdown (In the bios) when my temp is higher then 70, just to be on the safe side. My CPU currently is: 50 Degrees Idle, and is 55 Degrees Stressed Smile
