VU Exceed size 400
#1
Hey there,

I am an ardent fan of PCSX2 and when my computer got upgraded, I couldn't wait to start PCSX2 on my PC (as my older pc was too slow for it).

I am using PCSX2 v0.9.8.

When I start the emulation, it's slow, the sound produced is very slow. and the BIOS emulation is shaking. I've identified the problem-it says GIFTAG warning, size exceeded VU memory size 400- no other errors reported. I tested Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi on it. The videos run super-smooth, The shaking stops and the menu animations are somewhat OK, but the moment 3d graphics kick in (gameplay and venue Selection), it gets too much slow and runs like a slideshow. Besides, when the BIOS is running and the blue halo and cube animations begin to fade, the animation suddenly becomes smooth (same with the PlayStation 2 logo.) Can anybody help me out here?
I've included the PCSX2 console log so that you guys can identify the problem better.

(Note: MY PC has Windows XP Professional SP3 version 5.1, but PCSX2 Logs show this as XP Home Premium SP3)

i don't get what your problem is. the bios is shaking?
thats because it needs a different interlace mode in gsdx, press the F5 key to switch the interlace mode until it stops shaking.

the gif exceeds 0x400 error when running the bios is normal. and it doesn't cause any emulation problems.

Unfortunately Pentium 4 and ATI Radeon XPRESS 200 are just too slow for PCSX2, you'll need a new PC if you want to run games at playable speeds.

Thanks for the tip, the bios is no longer shaking. But still, animation is lagging. Anyways, thanks a lot and I hope you can give me more tips.

If my rig is slow for pcsx2, then what is the minimum requirement?

It's not that easy to tell as it depends lots on the game you want to play.
For your game it'll be a Core2Duo cpu at 3.2Ghz and a Geforce 8 / 9 series or better.
Basically any new machine for ~ $600 or better will be fine.

BIOS rom2 module not found, skipping...
BIOS erom module not found, skipping...
GIFTAG warning, size exceeded VU memory size 400

can anybody explain what is vu memory and these errors?

They're not errors, just warnings and just says the bios doesn't have those files (not all bios do) and have nothing to do with your problem.

you dont fix it
as there not errors
the 400 problem is related to not being able to split a asm instruction i believe
and the other warnings are because your bios is old
