frame rate drops randomly on stud of a pc....

Cool I'll check it out tonight. Really hope that fixes it. It's just really frustrating bc I see it running so perfect and smooth then stutter...... either way thanks everyone and I'll report back to tell my results.

First of all, use DX Software mode. If possible use DX11 over DX9. Secondly, in the speedhacks menu, enable MTVU if you havent. Lastly, make use of that last core by going into your GS plugin settings and at the bottom where it says extra rendering threads, make it 1 instead of zero. As an alternative, don't enable MTVU and add 2 rendering threads and see which is better. For me, Shadow Hearts ran fine with stock settings but RE4 ran at 20 FPS. After adding 3 extra rendering threads to the GS plugin it runs at a steady 60 FPS.

There is no reason to use software mode except for games that require it. Hardware is always faster.

I find that odd every game i try to run on hardware mode is horribly slower than software mode... The games even stop working sometimes. I would also find it hard to believe every game i play requires software mode?

What GPU are you using? If it's an integrated one and you have an intel chip... then yeah software mode is prolly faster.

ASUS EAH5770 CuCore... I'm going to assume its just the card because its garbage. The drivers weren't even fixed before the card lost support LOL Tongue

It's actually not bad, you should be faster in hardware than software. But if you wanna discuss it more, lets make a thread or do it in PM since we are hijacking this one lol.

Ya hardware mode definitely faster. So far I've disabled the speed stepping, set my video card to max performance and umm I'm getting ready to break out throttle stop and I've enabled speed hacks to the max. It does seem like it does it more or less based on the board I'm on. And the one board is almost unplayable in grand turismo 3. Idk. It just doesn't seem like anything on my system is bottle necking.

Does it do it in other games though?

I only have 2 other games atm. Nhl09 and Dave mirra bmx2. Nhl09 requires software mode so I expect some slow downs there and yes it behaves similarly but slow downs occur when like a goal is scored and camera changes to up close 3d views of players coaches been changed ect.

Dave mirra seems like it has some slow downs too but I'd assume it's a demanding game too.

I'm going to get final fantasy x and play that almost as a benchmark. If I still experience the same thing then maybe I just have a virus who knows. It could be something as simple as my cheap motherboard being the bottle neck.

Answer me this, are there demanding games out there that can be played on elite hardware that will run full speed 99.9% of the time? I only ask bc I just don't want to be chasing a phantom.

Only other thing I can add here is I did get a bunch of stuttering heavy frame drops like 20 fps or less for extended periods and my log said gdsx out of memory. Google fix, patched it.
