let's see what we can do about the speed, shall we? 3.5ghz should be PLENTY fine for MGS2. and well, not dealt with AMD so you're gonna have to be a guinea pig for this, but we'll see what happens:

this is for 1.2.1, if you want newer, let me know:

pcsx2_vm (only part of it, copy and replace the section)
Quote:[EmuCore/Speedhacks]
EECycleRate=0
VUCycleSteal=0
fastCDVD=disabled
IntcStat=enabled
WaitLoop=enabled
vuFlagHack=enabled
vuThread=enabled

gsdx.ini (full ini, replace contents):
Quote:[Settings]
Adapter=default
Renderer=4
Interlace=7
AspectRatio=0
upscale_multiplier=1
filter=2
paltex=1
logz=1
fba=1
aa1=0
nativeres=1
resx=1024
resy=1024
extrathreads=4
ShadeBoost=0
Fxaa=0
shaderfx=0
UserHacks=0

then test this one, and see if there is improvement, or slowdowns:
Quote:[Settings]
Adapter=default
Renderer=4
Interlace=7
AspectRatio=0
upscale_multiplier=1
filter=2
paltex=1
logz=1
fba=1
aa1=0
nativeres=1
resx=1024
resy=1024
extrathreads=6
ShadeBoost=0
Fxaa=0
shaderfx=0
UserHacks=0

Saiki, I can tell MGS2 will struggles massively on the Piledriver architecture. Not as bad as Bulldozer, but it's not even going to be remotely fast enough.

Gotta agree with Nobbs. MGS2 is one of the most demanding games to be honest imo on PCSX2. Along with MGS3.
AMD Ryzen 5 3600 @ 3.60~4.20 GHz | Corsair Vengeance LPX 32 GB (2x16GB) DDR4-3200
MSI GeForce GTX 1660 Super @ 6 GB | Samsung 980 1TB | Windows 10 Pro x64 (22H2)

^ what nobbs66 said.

It might speed it up due to the lower demanding settings but full speed is unlikely and possibility for frame drops is still a probable scenario due to the weaker arch.

Don't be sorry. I was just pointing out that the CPU wouldn't fit in a FM2 board.

and yet I got MGS3 running ok on a slower CPU that I owned

don't believe me, I have proof here:

Also, @nobbs: let the OP make his/her own decision if it is fast enough
