Dragon Quest VIII freezes

1.1.0 eh? Is that the latest stable DL? Because it looks like 1.0.0 is. How do I get 1.1.0...or is that a typo?

Ah. Thanks! I always use the sable unless there is some game specific fix needed. Perhaps that is why I do not experience the crashes.

Ok after another hour of playing, the game crashed on me just as I got back to Farebury. However, this time around it did not immediately crash. The game froze and I could click on the PCSX2 menus but nothing I clicked on did anything (I tried saving the state so I wouldn't lose any progress...didn't work).

Right click on pcsx2 shortcut & in properties tick run as administrator & apply !
Also strongly recommended to install it outside from program files.
In c/pcsx2 wil be fine or any other drive e.g. E,F,G
also in plugin/bios selector set dev9 plugin to null.

Which one? There are two DEV9null.

There is the r5403 version and just regular DEV9null.

Also Preet you might be on to something. I did run the game as admin last night for the hell of it but didn't this morning. Will try playing again to see what happens.

Some SVN builds of pcsx2 include two copies of each plugin but the files are identical and just have a different filename.

I managed to create a DQ8 USA savestate which crashes every time after around 1 minute of cutscene in pcsx2 1.1.0.5628 gsdx 5627 DX11 AVX (hardware) but works perfectly fine with gsdx 5627 DX9 (hardware) renderer:

https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B-Yp9BvE...sp=sharing

So in theory, maybe selecting D3D9 will avoid the crashes, we will find out...

I also had these random crashes with the translated version of Dragon Quest V in pcsx2 1.0 but these occurred once every 10-15 hours only. This was the reason for me to try out the devbuilds.

My current settings are:

I'm still getting the merge error is null from the activity log, even while running as admin. I am currently at Port Prospect and the game has crashed at least 4 times now from Alexandria to here.

try one of these, see if any of these work (these are all official ones from a while ago. back up your gsdx.ini)
