Try at least for a 9500gt or 9600gt better...

Sorry to go over your topic, but I didn't wanted to make another topic for this question. Is there a way to change the native mode on/off on the fly, like a hot key? The game looks awful on native in fullscreen, so I wonder if there is a way to change the native mode only during cutscenes.

Also, switching to software mode during cutscenes doesn't work for me. The screen turns black and the games freezes with the error "The GS plugin failed to open/initialize".
Does someone knows what I might be doing wrong?

I am using Pcsx 2 Beta v1329 with GSdx 1376 (MSVC 15.00, SSSE3) 0.1.15

Pcsx 2 config is on default settings

GSdx config is:
Direct3D9 (Hardware)
Interlacing = None
AR = 4:3
Native mode = OFF
Texture filtering = ON
Logarithmic Z = ON
Vsync = OFF
Alpha Correction = ON
Merger blur effect = OFF

PC specs:
Intel Core 2 Duo CPU E6850 @3.60 GHz
Memory (RAM) 6.00 GB
Nvidia 9800GTX+ 512MB
OS: WindowsXP x64

I'm grateful for any advice regarding both questions. Thanks

Hot key for switching native? I believe there isn't, but the best place for that question is in http://forums.pcsx2.net/thread-3031-page-119.html.

You can try presing F9 while ingame to switch to software mode which automatically uses native resolution.

Oh my bad :o

uhm, if you're not using fullscreen mode in that DX9 mode (well maybe even if with some older GSdx revisions) you can try simply hit the Escape key to return to the pcsx2 gui then "config > graphics" tick native accept the changes and go back to game with "run > execute" then do the same to go back to normal resolution after the FMVs, not exactly a hotkey but meh Tongue2

Like LordICE, I thought I'd piggy back on this thread since it is topical and recent.

First side node: Noticed that "Interlaced frame - Blend tff/bff" does wonders on Hardware mode for removing flicker so perhaps no need to switch to software for some people?

Anyway, my issue is similar to the others reported I guess. I'm just trying to get past the first FMV cutscene when starting a new game really. I've tried all of the recommended settings listed and some others not mentioned but cannot get better than 30 FPS with it typically near 27 fps.

Heck even with GSDX set to output to "NULL (NULL)" I still only get 32 fps. ZeroGS runs near 27 fps and actually renders the scene twice once on top and once on bottom with the bottom working less well. I noticed that the game screws around with the resolution doubling vertical resolution from whatever it was set to in GSDX config. With software mode sometimes its a blazing 3 fps and 100 CPU.

Opening Credit Cutscene (before new game) runs a perfect 60 fps with NULL driver. With Hardware mode it has problems with the graphical effects but runs near 60 fps. Software mode has same problems as hardware but freezes more. ZeroGS renders all of the graphics near perfectly at 60 fps for opening.

Windows 7 (x64)
Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 @ 2.66GHz
NVIDIA GeForce 6400 GT (512 MB)

Currently using pcsx2-beta-1329, GSDX 890 0.1.14, GSDX 1473 0.1.15, ZeroGS 0.97.1, SPU2-X 1.1.0, LillyPad 0.9.11, Linuz Iso 0.8.0 on uncompressed ISO. ISO is burned from DVD (SLUS_206.72) with no PPF-O-Matic run on it (since I cannot find any PPF files for it).

I know my CPU and GPU is a little underpowered but it runs FFX and FFXII just fine around 60 fps. Given that I've used the GSDX NULL adapter and it still sucks could it be something else like bad ISO rip or CPU or Windows 7?

Does the NULL (NULL) adapter still use the GPU? I assume not so upgrading the gfx card probably would not help.
