Read first: Will PCSX2 run fast on my computer?
(08-02-2010, 06:23 PM)tea_and_coffee Wrote: I'm actually thinking of getting an HP pavilion notebook as well but with the 520 processor instead (2.3 Ghz I believe). Same graphics card (hd 4200) though. Could I still run FFX with it? And maybe even FFX-2?

EDIT: To the guy above: most definitely great I assume, but settings depend on the game I guess.

FFX runs 100% on a P4, you'll be fine. FFX-2 will need a LITTLE more power, but your PC should cover it

I have a feeling that my whole system is capable, save for my new CPU I'll be getting on Wednesday. Here it is:

CPU: AMD Athlon II X4 635 2.9GHz (I currently have an Athlon II X2 240 2.8GHz)
Mobo: Gigabyte GA-MA785G-UD3H
RAM: x2 PQI PowerSeries DDR2-800 2GB (dual channel)
GFX: Gigabyte Radeon HD4850 1GB
HDD: Samsung SATA 500GB
DVD: Plextor PX-880SA SATA DVD-RAM
Monitor: HP 2009m 1600x900

I'd love to see some GOW2 action on here. Haha

Another newbie throws his specs into the ring.

Processor: AMD Athlon 64 X2 5600+ 2.90 ghz
RAM: 3.00 GB
Graphics: ATI Radeon HD 4550
OS: Windows Vista 32-Bit, Service Pack 2

Just out of curiosity: would overclocking help any, or should I just pony up for a new CPU?

i ran 'street fighter anthology' using gsdx in dx11 software mode and set it for 6 threads/cores. to my surprise i got around 17 fps - 24 fps! Ohmy i can see all 6 cores utilized in task manager. wow, just wow.

i figured by dedicating a graphic thread to each core using a hexa core processor running at @3.2 ghz would result in higher fps. this does not appear to be the case.

as a side note, running it in dx11 sw mode actually fixes all the garbled graphics you see when you run this game in dx11 hw mode. Happy

spec:
cpu: AMD Phenom II X6 1090T BE (@3.2 Ghz)
gfx: Radeon HD 5850 2 GB
os: Windows 7 x64
ram: 8 GB DDR 3

With a 3.55ghz Athlon II, I am not able to get GOW2 run at full speed( speedhacks don't seem to help much), so you will not be able to run the game at full speed with the x4 or the x2. If you want better pcsx2 performance, try overclocking the athlon 240
AMD Athlon II 245 @ 3.55ghz, 9600GT @730mhz 1115mhz, vista sp2 32bit

The X2 or the X4? I'm going to get a nice heatsink/fan going for my new quad, so I'll get it oc'd in no time.

Edit: Oh never-mind, I see in your sig you have the X2.

Yes, overclocking CPU will almost always be beneficial. In general, an upgrade isn't a bad idea for you, but overclock your current processor to like 3.5Ghz or more should fair you well.

Oh yes, Software mode is great for "cleaning up" graphic issues, and also likely to be slower without the aid of your GPU (and a good one, at that). I guess it's kinda hard to find a substitute for a 5850. Smile
