Read first: Will PCSX2 run fast on my computer?
hello guys
new around here
i recently got myself a new gaming laptop,my 5 year old HP laptop was bound to be replaced

here's my specs:
i7-4910MQ processor (Quad Core, 8MB Cache, Overclocked up to 4.1GHz)
i7-4910MQ benchmarks (Single Thread Rating: 2248)
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M with 2 GB GDDR5
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M benchmark
32 GB Dual Channel DDR3L 1.600 MHz
Windows 8.1

now i guess my CPU is strong enough for emulation,my question is about the GPU,its the weaker one in its series,is this going to make a difference for emulating ps2 games?because i read a bit through this thread, and when asked if someones specs is ok,its always either CPU not good enough,or GPU too weak, and usually its both lol

in other words, how do you determine which CPU/GPU combo works best for pcsx2?(i know the more GHz and cores the better for CPU,but what determines a good GPU in contract with pcsx2)

That gpu will be just fine for 1080p in most games

Hi, I want to buy a laptop, and I want one capable of running my PS2 games like Final Fantasy XII and Grandia III.
I just want to know if any of these two are good enough:

CPU - Intel® Core™ i5-4210U (1.7 GHz - up to 2.7 GHz wiht Turbo Boost, 3Mb Cache)
RAM - 4GB, Single Channel DDR3, 1600MHz
GPU - AMD Radeon™ HD R7 M265, 2GB DDR3

or

CPU - Intel® Core™ i5-4210U (1.7 GHz - up to 2.7 GHz wiht Turbo Boost, 3Mb Cache)
RAM - 8GB, Single Channel DDR3, 1600MHz
GPU - NVIDIA® GeForce® 820M, 2GB DDR3L

I don't mind playing in native resolution and I want to use a DualShock 3 via bluetooth, if that matter.

I wouldn't go with either. Those CPU's are meant for low power consumption and they won't fare well with something as demanding as pcsx2.

None of them will be enough.
Those CPUs aren't made for CPU intensive tasks.
CPU : AMD Ryzen 7 3800X
Mobo : Asus PRIME B450-PLUS
GPU : NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070
RAM : 16 Go

Thanks for the fast reply!
So, I'll search a bit more, any advice?

Something like an i7 4700mq would be ideal, but if it's not in your budget an i5 4200m may suffice, but you won't get full speed 100% of the time.

Well, the price is higher than I was expecting, but I found this one:

CPU - Intel® Core™ i7-4700MQ (2.4 GHz - up to 3.4 GHz with Turbo Boost, 6MB Cache)
RAM - 4GB, Single Channel DDR3, 1600MHz
GPU - NVIDIA® GeForce® 840M, 2GB

The CPU is the one you recommended. What about the RAM and the GPU, can they handle?

That should be fine
