Read first: Will PCSX2 run fast on my computer?
Is there any way to get the original post updated as things have changed quite a bit since it was modified in 2012 and much more since 2008 when it was originally written? I have been searching this thread quite a bit and have not been able to find another general specs post.

That being said, I'm looking to upgrade to a new laptop primarily to run PCSX2 better (hoping to expand my games library quite a bit if I can get it to run at least 2x smoothly). I'm targeting a 2-in-1 design which is particularly tough to find with enough power, but I think I found a couple that will work. I prefer the other features of Option A: CPU=intel i7-6500u (STR ~ 1650, 2.5GHz), 16 GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 940MX. But the processor is stronger on Option B: CPU= intel i7-7500u (STR ~ 2000, 2.7GHz), 12 GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 940MX

Is STR the most important thing to look at, and if so, will the extra 350 be significant? Would an i5 outperform these if it had higher STR? I did see a few that would. Does the drop in RAM affect option B much? Is it absolute PCSX2 suicide to attempt to run with an integrated GPU? I did see one person mention that emulation was a lot more dependent on the CPU than the GPU. If I could drop the discrete graphics, I'm sure I could find a lot more options with the same/better CPU's that would fit my tastes better. Thanks for any help!

Nvidia having better support on opengl (Gsdx + Opengl HW ) but does it support for newer Nvidia pascal graphic card opengl ?
Beginning from 1050 , 1050ti , 1060 and up.
Black Friday offer is tomorrow , have an eye on 1050 for pcsx2 .Does it run well on 1080p on (Gsdx + Opengl HW ) with 4 or 6x native ? Taking a most common game MGS3 or SoC ? pretty sure FFX or 12 works well.
Hoping for GS doesn't reach 99% on GTX 1050 since not much user had this graphic card.

Should work pretty well. I have a gtx 950 and it's fine with any game I've tried. A 1050 is a bit faster.

Great , gtx 950 having similar performance with 1050 maybe a little 10% faster.
Which game you had run on opengl HW mode on your gtx 950 ? resolution and native x ? settings ?

I had a hard time running on old 5gen card where ops for an upgrade.Targeted game was mgs3 , xenosaga series and ZOE. Just bringing back some memories for a rerun again on the game.
Thanks man  Happy

Biggest issue being those games are the most intensive to emulate. I have the 1060 and it does amazing with everything. But. I still have some trouble running certain games at even 3x native. like rogue galaxy. So your mileage may vary depending on the card, Either the 1050, or 1060 (3gig) should be fine. but if you can get a 1060(6gig) or even the 1070 or 1080. go for it.

What setting you went for ? Your GS is at 99% even on 1060 6GB ? At which part of rogue galaxy struggle on 3x ? apply any speed hack ?
My mileage is limited , except I found some card with 1060 performance doubt it'll easy to find gtx 970 cheaper than 1060 3GB.

If you're still running that phenom II x6 1055T, that may actually be your bottleneck.  Its stp is sitting at under 1200.. a little on the low side for emu.

As your opinion , does gtx 1050 run well on 1080p on MGS3 , xenosaga series and ZOE series ?
While gtx 1050 have similar performance with gtx 950.Opengl_HW + native x4.
Processor is i5 3.4ghz.
