Is there any way to get the original post updated as things have changed quite a bit since it was modified in 2012 and much more since 2008 when it was originally written? I have been searching this thread quite a bit and have not been able to find another general specs post.
That being said, I'm looking to upgrade to a new laptop primarily to run PCSX2 better (hoping to expand my games library quite a bit if I can get it to run at least 2x smoothly). I'm targeting a 2-in-1 design which is particularly tough to find with enough power, but I think I found a couple that will work. I prefer the other features of Option A: CPU=intel i7-6500u (STR ~ 1650, 2.5GHz), 16 GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 940MX. But the processor is stronger on Option B: CPU= intel i7-7500u (STR ~ 2000, 2.7GHz), 12 GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 940MX
Is STR the most important thing to look at, and if so, will the extra 350 be significant? Would an i5 outperform these if it had higher STR? I did see a few that would. Does the drop in RAM affect option B much? Is it absolute PCSX2 suicide to attempt to run with an integrated GPU? I did see one person mention that emulation was a lot more dependent on the CPU than the GPU. If I could drop the discrete graphics, I'm sure I could find a lot more options with the same/better CPU's that would fit my tastes better. Thanks for any help!
