Will Intel i5 2467 1.6GHz run pcsx2 smoothly?
#1
I'm thinking of getting an M11x r3 with CPU i5 2467 1.6GHz and GPU NVIDIA 540M 2GB. The general faq lists i5 cards as being acceptable to play with pcsx2 and I was wondering if this would be true for the i5 1.4GHz that comes with the computer.

Thanks,

oh dear that i5 laptop it is at 1.4Ghz

it's "horrible" to run pcsx2 as my suggestion even turbo boost only at 2.3Ghz and may not guarantee it's speed during turbo boost phase and may has a potential risk of hi-laptop-temperatures build-up.

mi-dast play on the gaming desktop or on the actual ps2 FTM.

1.4 isn't officially listed on the dell homepage. so what is this? a 1.3 with a lil boost or a 1.6 or 2.0 on balanced settings - aka underclocked?!

anyway it will be really a tad slow. you have to play really "cheap" games to get "smooth" framerates on pcsx2 - it's a lil hungry. nonetheless... for regular pc games this will be kinda enough.

I can't give you a proper dxdiag because I haven't bought the computer yet but the link to a similar computer is above.

The processor is i5 2467 if you want to look it up.

Also a minor mistake on the processor's clock rate - the proper rate is 1.6GHz. It will go up to 2.3 GHz with turbo-boost.

but it's still very slow for an pcsx2 to run it even a magic configuration.
and laptop's heat concerns.

That makes sense - thanks for answering!

What about a laptop with intel i7 2670QM clocking at 2.2GHz that is boostable to 3.1GHz? Will that run pcsx2 properly on most games?

this shall work fine w/ conditions:
*laptop cooling
*laptop temperatures does not go beyond 90C
*not running in batteries
*set in "high performance"
*and follow Saiki's mini guide http://forums.pcsx2.net/Thread-PCSX2-con...-SUPPORTED

Keep in mind kasakuri, that the 3.1 Ghz value is only on one core Smile
