Well, it's ESC hangling in Linux.cpp and Win32.cpp. Yes, it's needed to handle it properly -- I could not debug thing, that I could not halt by esc. Fullscreen open phase set in CreateWindow function ion ZZoglCreate.

to tell the truth, i only made a virtual machine (virtual box) with ubuntu 9.10 alpha1, instaled dependencies and compiled it, just that
oh, and before that, i updated gcc4.4 to the lastest packages in the ubuntu repo.
Compiled means, i used a script i made to automate the process(just saying to keep accuracy of what i did)
i'll leave it here in case it's usefull to anyone
1st use "actualizar archivadores" to create "pcsx2-read-only.7z" and "zzogl.7z" (you need p7zip instaled), this is to accelerate the procces in further updates/compilations
then use the one respective to what you want to compile.
I've been playing with it and no problem so far

But you have compiled PCSX2 with GCC 4.4.0 and successfully got it to run a game (since you mentioned higher fps...) or did you only compile the ZZogl plugin? This is interesting, as it is discussed quite alot in this bug report:
