writing test programs, guesswork, lots of crying ;p
I wouldn't even know where to begin without load of documents. The GS must be on hell of a PITA to emulate without classified documents from Sony.
we had some information from homebrew efforts and open source stuff which helped quite a bit.

I can imagine.

It will be interesting to see what you guys do. Maybe mip mapping in hardware mode so I can run R&C at more than 50fps.
i'm using AVG on both of my desktop and laptop for more than 7 yrs.
even my retired PC Pentium 4+Win98SE i installed was an AVG.

I use it because it's not a pain in the ass to uses and it's not a resource hog

i agree.
I switched from AVG because although it's not a resource hog, I had a REALLY underpowered PC at the time, and it was causing slowdown. Since then I've used a Kaspersky free trial that I got.

I still would recommend AVG to anyone who needs a free antivirus solution.
Having something use all of my resources is not ideal for running ps2 games.
On that old PC I always made sure every single app was shut down and only 1 thing running at once.

Now on this PC I'll leave multiple browsers windows open, a paused PCSX2 or PPSSPP, a 3d game, etc, etc. And still not run out of resource.
