Hmmm.. Good info Wink I hope Gabest can "teach" the DirectX someday as how to render GOW2 properly Laugh
lol fullspeed in SOFTWARE mode is impossible because its in SOFTWARE mode and not HARDWARE.

i'm quite sure you will get fullspeed with a good CPU that supports more software rendering threads? Like the i7 series should have like 8? Not sure on that one Wink
When the last number on the titlebar says 1500 mpps then we have reached the max fillrate of the real ps2. But even the nastiest games don't need more than 500.
I've seen 230mpps at max so far Tongue2

No, I can't.

Weirdly enough, I get higher FPS on medium/high resolutions than I do on low ones. It runs faster at 1920x1200 than 640x480, weird.

But, any kind of graphical change drops my FPS to 1. For example, on FFX, when you go to open the main menu after getting past the intro bits, the screen actually opens from dark to light, so, as soon as I get past the intros my FPS drops 1, and I see about 5 frame changes where the screen goes from light to dark, which takes like ~30 seconds. Then as soon as the arrow pops up, insta 215 FPS. Then you click on "Load", and the same thing again, FPS drops to 1 as the screen goes from light to dark, then insta 215FPS again when it's loaded.

But, even weirder, the FPS only drops to 1 for the first time I run PCSX2 with those settings. So if I run it at fullscreen 1920x1200, wait through the slowdowns and go into the Load screen, if I then exit PCSX2 using Esc, and re-load it, I stay at 215FPS even through the screen changes.

That was running with 8 threads, one for each of my cores. Anyway I don't recommend it, hardware is the way to go (constant 250 FPS throughout).
Jesus, beautiful rig you got there Cody. Wish I had a toy such as this one Laugh Very nice.

it IS possible with some less GS intensive games like FFX or Kingdom Hearts.
But not with God of war yet.

oh yea and FFXII on a 4+ghz C2D like rama showed us.

in software renderer?
the internal resolution when using software is ALWAYS native, not possible to change without modifying the source code.

what you see as output is always the native resolution, no matter if you selected 1920x1200 or 640x480.

edit:
whoops sorry for double post, i tried to merge them but i can't delete my second post.
