Yep, it totally depends on the game. Examples (on my Win7x64 rig):
Tenchu 3 needs D3D11 from an older 150.x or 140 build. The newer versions cause shaking/bouncing graphics. Opengl looks very blurry and has shaking/bouncing graphics.
Tenchu 4 needs a newer Opengl to avoid bad graphics glitches, black shadow covering everything more than a few feet away, and blurry.
