Tried with the proprietary drive and no change when I hit F9. Did you want me to try with the mesa driver?

Edit Sorry, yeah I tried with zzogl and the box is still there.

Something I've noticed is that no matter what aspect ratio I choose the game will run as if I choose the fit to screen option, and the box will be the dimensions of the chosen aspect ratio.

Honestly I don't know what happen. I won't have time this weekend, but I will try to push a new ppa version after a couple of fix for FXAA & external shader.

Thank you for looking into it. If I can ever get pcxs2 to build from source I'll track down what revision caused the problem.

It looks like it is caused by this revision.

I don't get the gray box when I compile the previous build but it is present in this one, and all builds after it.

Oh nice. Could you redo a test without the modification of pcsx2/gui/AppMain.cpp

Edit: I think the important part are those one :https://github.com/PCSX2/pcsx2/commit/1fda2a611c55ab1cae10df548cbd98ffada327d8#diff-483fcdc5bc55cc930d678158620b7c4bL936

I'm sorry, I'm not exactly sure how I would do this. I only just learned how to use git today while tracking this down. I know that I switch to the build with git checkout 1fda2a611c55ab1cae10df548cbd98ffada327d8. Do I need to checkout the previous version grab pcsx2/gui/AppMain.cpp from that then switch back to the affected version and replace that file?
