just reproduced this
Direct3D9 software black screen
Direct3D9 hardware black square
Direct3D10 software black screen
Direct3D10 hardware black screen (unless you open gsdx config and hit ok) - seems to be that it requires a full framebuffer clear?
blurry text in his scene can be rectified with half pixel offset hack btw.

Same issue since i started last winter, affects all but one of Shion's Niphilim dreams+^_^+ widescreen patches i been playing with in CE let me move the box around, but i never gave it the time to find a fix that way+^_^+ also, if i remember, the higher the internal res, the smaller the box, but i could be mistaken+^_^+ (put PCSX2 down for a few months)Quick edit, all those scenes are supposed to be in black and white, that "box" may be some sort of post process filter that doesn't like PCSX2 much since the scenes affected are being rendered in real-time+^_^+ http://youtu.be/6OsNLXwfrOw?t=35m4s

seems to me that its the the colour filter overlay used during those sequences not being rendered.

That helps a bit. It may be a bad CLUT result, something we also see in that one robot game (both in hw and sw).
