It's normal...at above 3x it becomes harder and harder to see the difference.
Onimusha games are almost like you are walking over images and scaling doesn't help much...personally I don't see a difference between x3 and x8 on Onimusha 4
Look for the quality of moving things to see a difference

This is not the case. Onimusha 3 is all 3D like onimusha 4, it doesn't have prerendered backgrouds like onimusha 1 or 2.
When I say i can't see the difference I want to tell that no difference between x3 and native resolution. Or x8 and native.
Even the main character it's pixelated like native resolution, in onimusha 1 & 2 the difference is awesome even with prerendered backgrounds.
Can you understand me now?, my english it's not so good, I try to explain me as best I can.
I'm sure you can see difference in any game between x3 and native, but not this game.
I can see a little difference at x2, but x3 and higher looks like native, I did testing pressing F9.
Regards for you too vsub.

Well I'm trying O4 right now(I don't have O3)and I see the difference between native,x2,x3 but there is not difference between x3 and above.
And no O4 IS with prerendered backgrounds/buildings...almost everything that does not move is prerendered
Try pressing F9 twice after you change the scaling mode

I haven't played Onimusha 4 yet, i was thinking onimusha 4 is 3D. Yes I did pressing F9.
I have a lot of games, GSdx scales ok all my games at x3, but no this game, no matter if it's DX11 or OpenGL.
And yes, Onimusha 3 it's all 3D i think the engine it's very similar to Devil May cry engine.
It only happens with onimusha 3.
From wikipedia:
"Onimusha 3 has been generally well received by publications for video games. Most of the writer's praise focused on the improved controls and the use of a 3D engine that allowed better combat and visuals, respectively.
The development from this game started after the release of the PlayStation 2 which allowed the team to work on a 3D engine to design 3D backgrounds."

The O4 IS 3D but a lot of the elements cannot be upscaled by much.
I played O3(PC version)long time ago and it's the same(if not worse...even less things that can be improved by using scaling modes)

And now you only need to label your screenshots...

it's labeled i was editing the post.
Even if you stop the mouse cursor in the image it's says image filename.
See the aliasing in the columns and the jail at the left of the image, almost no difference between x3 and native (software mode).
But x2 scale mode seems it's working. If you look closely (not so closely XD) the difference between x2 and x3 is incredible.
x2 looks much more better than x3, scale x3 (and higher) looks like native.

You have a lot of non-default settings.... Can you please remove your gsdx.ini and try to reproduce the issue with default setting.
