The problem is that without the revision number,it's very difficult to find the rev you are searching for.
Are you going to click on the "Older" button or do random guesses on the page number hoping you'll reach a rev couple of months ago and start hovering on every commit until you find the correct one in that day?
What if you know that a bug exist since certain rev but you only have the date.
How will a dev find the rev and check the code

G means git. Revision is an hex number.
