Can you please update the compatibility list?

The issue with rounding and clamping is that floating precision numbers of the ps2 behave differently than on a pc. (there are several differences which are probably not even fully understood). Currently pcsx2 has no fully compatible FPU (floating point unit) because it would be very expensive (performance-wise) to implement it. Therefore we have several 'hack'-versions which are fast and cover almost all requirements for almost all games. Normally the rounding mode Chop/Zero works best for most games. You just found one of the few examples where nearest is needed...

Would you say that leaving it at Nearest works perfectly fine for any game or do I need to change it for other games?

For some games it doesn't matter which mode you use. For other games nearest will be game breaking.
Just leave it like that and next time you observe a problem try first setting it back to default.

I'm guessing that nearest just means that the emulator will try to emulate the game "nearest" to how the PS2 would?

I'm not sure about that but, the different options are there to deal with the Internal algorithms and prevent denormals from happening since, it may cause a little issue in the game. It's always advisable to turn back to the defaults after once the required situation is passed.

On an unrelated note: Is there any way to make software look any better or any closer to hardware mode. The only way to play this game accurately is by using software mode. Hardware mode makes the FPS take a plunge and the audio is jagged on this mode as well. On the other hand, software mode makes everything fly smoothly.

You can try improving it a little bit by using edge antialiasing but, it still won't look as nice as hardware mode Tongue2

Lol seriously! Hardware makes games look absolutely beautiful. They add such a breathe of fresh air. Unfortunately this game in particular takes a HUGE performance hit when in hardware mode.

No idea why.

you might have probably set the internal resolution very high at Hardware mode. you can try reducing it to get a little speed up.

No. Even with the hardware mode at the lowest settings, including keeping the internal resolution as native, the game hits the emulator harrrrrd in hardware.

It may also be a GPU bottleneck , care to give your hardware specs ?
