PCSX2 - Widescreen Game Patches
I'm just trying to make it more gender neutral, since that would lead to the assumption that gaming is a male-only activity.
Video games are an entertainment medium, much like movies, TV shows, music, and shouldn't be exclusive to a certain gender.
In the case of video games, it's not just "one or two" women who play games. The ratio is a lot more even than that. Lots of women use emulators to play video games.

I wouldn't be so iffy when discussing make-up because they're generally women's beauty products, but I still recognize it's an assumption.

Gender stereotypes are usually ingrained into us as children. Some interesting videos discussing this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l8I0Wy58adM (Tropes vs women in video games)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CrmRxGLn0Bk (Lego and gender)

It's a self-habit of mine to notice what gender pronouns are used in reference to certain things, so when No. 47 did it, intentionally or not, I just felt like I needed to point it out.

It's cheap, but works.

That's fine. It would be good though if you could list the game titles.

Gauntlet - Dark Legacy (SLUS_20047)
Jak and Daxter - The Precursor Legacy (SCUS_97124)
Jak 3 (SCUS_97330)
MDK 2 - Armageddon (SLUS_20105)
Red Faction (SLUS_20073)
Return to Castle Wolfenstein - Operation Resurrection (SLUS_20297)
Speed Racer (SLUS_21812)
Star Wars - Battlefront 2 (SLUS_21240)

Drakan - The Ancients' Gates (SCES_50006)

It's easier that way for me, and probably for others too, plus it will help spread the word about built-in widescreen.
Now I only have to look after 2 archives instead of 3.

Hm? My suggestion was to get rid of it (since there is no benefit), hence one folder less you have to look after. But as you wish Wink

You're right, I probably should've written "she, he or it" instead of "he". Or is there a more elegant word to replace "he" without listing all genders (I'm not a native English speaker)? Tongue

I shall do that.
I'm going to look over the cheats_ws folder like it's my newborn baby, and care for it everyday for the rest of my life.

And like I said, you could have used "they", although some anal people will try to be all like "You can't use 'they' in reference to a single person!", but meh. That's like, so outdated.

Calling a human an "it" is a bit unusual, although lots of people call their pets "it" like, "Aw, how cute! It's playing with yarn!" in reference to cat.
But I prefer to refer to my pets with gender terms, because I treat them like little humans with respect.

Oh noes, now I'm feeling bad for advising you to get rid of it, how heartless of me!

Interesting! I didn't know it's correct to use words like "they, them, their" when talking about a single person. Sounds so wrong to me, but of course I understand the reasoning...

It sounds completely normal to me, but then again, I'm a native speaker. Ninja

I was taking a shower the other day, and I was thinking about all the weird phrases and expressions that seem "normal" to me that would confuse a non-native.

For example, "That bugs that crap out of me!"
Are we talking about insects? Or feces? Or maybe insects in your body removing poop from your digestive system?

Nope, it just means you're really "pissed off"! Et cetera.

But wait, a non-native would think "pissed off" means something like "pee being removed" Et cetera.

I think we both agree that it's all about what we're used to. And it's definitely worth rethinking our conventions sometimes, even if we decide against changing them: "Everyone can do what they want." Man, this definitely sounds strange to me. Still, I'll try to keep it in mind.

BTW: In my native language, the word for "one" ("One can say, that...") is very similar to the word for "man", so it's essentially "Man can say, that...", although all genders are meant actually.
I think there have been complaints of feminists, but as you can imagine it's nearly impossible to change.

I wonder what language that is, but don't tell me. That would only ruin your mysterious aura. Blush

Better not de-rail the topic again though. We should really focus on widescreen.
For the first time, I feel confident about the patches as well as the archive.
We got a nice system in place, and future implementation.
We've hit almost 7k downloads. When I first made the archive, I never expected more than 1k or so.

Some people may think widescreen isn't that important, but it really is.
Despite what some people may say, video games are art, and widescreen enhances their visual quality and shows you more of their virtual worlds.

I hook up my PC to my HDTV and play PCSX2 with my wireless controller. These are just images, but they're so much better in motion.

And some nice bromance.
