^ The idea is good, but it causes a garbage freeze-frame side effect on each side whenever an FMV plays... it looks kind of bad. Do you know if it happens for all FMVs?
Also, the bad side effect may also simply be a result of PCSX2. Switching from hardware to software mode and back with F9 fixes it by returning it to black.

I converted the Starwars Battlefront 2 NTSC pnach to Pal. This suffers the same issue as the NTSC version in that it still needs a full render fix.
This games also uses the same pnach code as the NTSC version, 02F4B541

Someone still needs to port the render fix for Phantasy Universe from the NTSC-J to NTSC-U
