PCSX2 - Widescreen Game Patches
And yes, that happened!
I've requested that game like over a year and a half ago and now I'm able to fulfill my request!

I was actually able to find the loop that checks if a mic is plugged like a year ago and patch it to always return "true" but the game would hang once you'd load a savegame.

Now though, Jackun has added preliminary support for mics on the USB plugin. It's far from something you can work with but it's "quite there" to be stable.
This feature got past pretty like everyone's attention which I find sad, I didn't see any news on the blog either. I think that feature is pretty revolutionary and a milestone for PCSX2 emulation to get past that way.

EDIT: Can we also talk about the fact that this is a Konami game but has the typical Capcom line effect bug (that also gets fixed with the new Align Sprite hack)? Fun fact right?!

BTW, My Life Line code needs some work. There are things like lights and the enemy weak point indicators being misplaced onscreen. I found that 202D1970 for example handles the position of the lights, but it still nedds more work into it.
Any help would be appreciated.
It's nothing gamebreaking it's just that it's a bit ugly and the weak points will be a bit offset.

Hey everyone;

Just created an account to post here - been getting that itch to descend from my PC master race games and break out some old console favorites and these widescreen patches are amazing; I don't think I'll ever play my physical PS2 again after finding this (not that I've touched the physical games in years anyway... my hard copies stay safely stowed these days, one does not risk damage to a Suikoden II disc). Just wanted to get a shout out of thanks for the work!  Biggrin

...and, of course, to ask how requests are done. I was recently recommended Odin Sphere and after hunting down a copy I'd really love to be able to get it into widescreen, as the base aspect ratio kind of makes the game a pain to play. Thanks again!

Odin Sphere is a 2D game so widescreen is usually not that easy or worthwhile if the screens are only 4:3 wide(not sure), and there's a native widescreen HD remake of this game coming to PS3, PS4 and Vita.

You're very welcome. Smile

@Nemesis: Just curious, what's the status on the Resident Evil 5 no-letterbox cutscenes?

Also, the 60 FPS Silent Hill 4 looks great. Any luck with it?

I also wonder if you could create 60 FPS hacks for other games, like PSP games, Final Fantasy Type 0 HD and Silent Hill: Homecoming.

I'm not interesting in any PSP 60FPS fixes, because I play psp games on real hardware

About RE5: I don't quite... understand. You have a video of the black bar fix removal clearly working (in at least one cutscene), and it's still "incomplete"? What's the issue? Does it only work in certain cutscenes?

About PSP 60FPS hacks: But PPSSPP is so much better, in so many ways. It's an awesome emulator. Why not give it a try? You have nothing to lose, except 60 FPS games in HD.

About Silent Hill: Homecoming: That method doesn't actually work. Several players have tried tinkering with the game's config settings, but it's always capped at 30 FPS.
