The 3230M is the model number of your cpu.
Also, a 2.6 ghz laptop i5 will not be equal to performance of a 2.6ghz desktop i5 even if they are both Sandy Bridge, Ivy Bridge, and so on.
OS: Linux Mint 17.2 64 bit (occasional Antergos/Arch user)
(I am no longer a Windows user)
CPU: Intel Pentium G3258
GPU: Nvidia GTX 650 Ti

if u buy a desktop i5 there wil be no 'm' after the number.
it is just model no. just look at the clock speed to determine which cpu is faster

as i said u cant get much speed out of a laptop. get a desktop if u want to do emulation well.
you can get the cpu' clock speed on the official page. see which has highest ghz or gigaheartz

You won't be able to boost with pcsx2. It puts too much stress on the cpu to do that.
