the difference in price between the e8400 and the e8500 isn't much, $20. The difference between e8600 and e8500 is $104. e8500 features a higher multiplier then e8400, resulting in less overclocking to achieve similar results.
Only the i5-750 is close to the same price, everything else is dearer by at least $100 and so is the motherboard for a i5.
Computer specifications:
Windows 10 | Ryzen 3700X | ASUS Crosshair VIII Hero (WiFi) | MSI 1070Ti | 16GB 3600MHz RAM

Hi,
I intend to acquire the following system in the near future:
Phenom II X4 965
Geforce 250 GTS
4gb ram
Windows XP
The most intensive games I want to play are Persona 3, Persona 4 and Front Mission 5 - what kind of FPS can I expect with such a setup? Would a faster CPU/overclocking be definitely required for full speed?
(I know that PCSX2 can't use more than two cores (I need a quadcore for non-PS2 related reasons), and that FM5 still has some minor graphic glitches)
Thanks in advance

The system you're planning to build is ok....Just to point out that Phenom II x4 can go with am2+ boards (use ddr2 mem) or am3 boards (you need ddr3 mem for this). Go for dual boot xp/win 7 if you can.

You don't really need XP these days at all, unless you have some pretty poorly-coded applications. There's even XP mode (basically an improved virtual host) if you really need it.

@kagarus : if your planning for PhenomII X4 965BE, i suggest you to take Rev.C stepping (newest 965BE) for higher OC you wouldnt dissapointed.

How would the likes of Tekken 5 fare on the following?
Intel Core i5 750 @ 3.60GHz, 4GB DDR3 1600MHz, GeForce GTX 275 896MB GDDR3

I plan on getting a laptop with these specs:
Operating System - Windows 7 Home 64 bit
Processor -
i7-920XM (or the
i7-820QM depending on money)
Graphics Card - gtx 280m
Ram - 4GB DDR3 SDRAM at 1333MHz
additional info - quad core each with hyper threading (unnecessary, I know but I still want it), 500GB 7200rpm SATA 300 Hard Drive.
With these specs, would I be able to play say... Fate Unlimited codes at 60fps or greater? Or do I need a desktop for that to happen (with no speed hacks or minimal EDIT: and I won't do any overclocking)?
Windows 7 - Asus G73jh-a1 - 17-720qm @ 1.6 GHz (2.8 GHz)(2.4ghz)(1.73ghz) - ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870 @ 700/1000 (sometimes oc to 800/1100) - 8 gig ram
