Well yeah, not much to compare those 2 anyway, not even 9600gt should be compared to HD4850.

Quote:one friend with other wanted to check performance on hd4850 and gts250 so hd4850 was better(well i was surprised)

Overall the GTS250 should be 5% faster but it just depends on the conditions of the test, if you tested things that work better on ATI then well...

Quote:anyway from now on i hate nvidia coz it just sucks, got some friends who working as PC specialists and they confirmed that nvidia sucks

Funny thing with those "PC specialists" is that they are hating on one or the other side just as normal users do Tongue2

If it were between that 4850 and GTS 250, I'd take the GTS 250 myself because of the texture fillrate and memory bandwidth which can help for PCSX2 at that scaling resolutions.

No offence but it's been few years since nvidia for the last time made a good graphics card. Of course there are some games and other programs that sometimes performs better on nvidia but it's the same about ati so I think that both companies are very even in performance case. The point are price, power consumption and heat that made nvidia stuff only for fanboys.

Oh the GTX260 was quite a good card, heat and power consumption were not that much of a problem...However I remember the 4800 series of ATI (especially the 4850) having big issues with heat.
However you are right, no company is generally better than the other, it depends on the current lineup and your budget.

Yeah that's true that not all models from ati are perfect and not all models from nvidia are total crap, and yeah 4850 wasn't a good card but it was replaced by great 4770 later. To be honest all test shows that ati performs slightly better in general than nvidias, specially in higher resolutions, and new gtx 4xx series must be some huge mistake. Ati's 58xx chipset reaches around 60 degrees with full load when nvidia's 4xx around 90 which is 50% more heat. Unacceptable. Power consumption is almost the same situation. Price - you have to pay bit more for slower, much hotter, and much more power hungry nvidia. Just take a look on pairs 5870 - 480, 5850 - 470. The only issue were catalyst in first month of 5xxx series existing on market but now it's just great. I just hope that nvidia won't give up graphics cards market and make something really good for next generation. It is really bad situation now that ati is so much ahead and it would be much worst if it became the only graphics card manufacturer. The only hope in intel then but it's not much of a good news.

Well, looks like the GXT460's are out, and the reviews are all across the web.
I've read a number of them, but they seemed contradictory at one point or another.
This new card design has some things reduced, or completely removed, as well as some thing added, and some things changed.
In other words, I'm not sure what parts of the cards affect the speed of PSCX2, and hopefully, someone here can understand the new spcs better than I and report back wether or not it can do the aforementioned games in the OP @ 1080p...

As an aside...
After looking at the heat and noise of this new GTX460, I'm starting to consider going for an ATI card. Ohmy
Do any of you ATI guys have a recommendation for a nice, quieter-than-the-GTX460 card that can do the OP games in 1080p?
EDIT:I ask about ATI cards, without knowing if GTX460 is the better choice or not...

before you say the gtx 460 produces lots of heat and noise if you actually read reviews on the card it produces less heat and noise from most ati cards out there...

Ah! that's good to know!
I think that what threw me were the arbitrary-seeming model numbers of the ATI cards they compared them to, as I'm not up to date on the latest offerings from ATI.

I don't know what reviews you're looking at but so far, the ones I've seen have been mostly positive. The GTX 460 1GB ($230), in particular, comes highly recommended. While not quite ATI-level when it comes to power consumption, it does compete quite nicely on the price/performance. At the very least, it bests the GTX 260 Core 216 when it comes to performance and power consumption while sporting a similar MSRP.

if you want an accurate review check this (and you can see temps, noise and performance comparisons with ati cards also), gtx 4601gb is closer to hd 5830 than hd 5770 that it should be = great work from nvidia, something nvidia didnt done with gtx 465 for example

Yeah, that is true that performance of gtx460 place this card between ati 5770 and 5830 but for the price of the second one which is obvious that ati 5830 is better choice for the money.
