Here's a very simple method to get patch but however it working for many games.
Try to look for 45000000(hex) with widescreen helper or ArtMoney or Cheat Engine,but change it carefully. for example to 45007000.
if you notice that the image is shifted , go to this address and try to change the nearest values.

results obtained by this method can be buggy and unstable, so don't forget about testing.

Not necessarily, as long as you can rebuild the game anyway. Check out my guide here:

I just want to play my ffx on cobra with 16/9e support and then remote play it through my vita would be awesome but i guess this method can't work with ffx..

Final Fantasy X has an ELF hack that will work for what you want.
