PCSX2 - Widescreen Game Patches
Okay, I got the BIOS stuff.

Sadly, in PCSX2, when you load an .iso then Full Boot, the widescreen hack doesn't work because it doesn't load a CRC of 00000000, but rather, the CRC of the game. >_>

So it's really trivial and kinda pointless. But I guess it's nice to have, whenever you want to check your memory card saves.

But I made it exclusively for the idea of having set the CDVD to "No Disc" and for the reason on just entering on BIOS for memory card etc.

BUT!

I'm pretty sure you can HEX edit the BIOS and modify it or make a patch that has a library (BIOS version depended) of temporary/non-static patches that get applied only on the boot section and then they get discarded when the game ELF gets loaded, someone may argue how usefull it is and I could agree to that but I doubt it would be a challenge or something so if somebody has the time to spend to integrate that (user optional) tiny function, I don't see why it would be a bad idea, it's like, that-new-feeling thing that could give a sense of refresh to PS2 emulation, not to say that I doubt you can do it on a real PS2 (maybe with Free MCBoot is possible though, I'll have to investigate that) which is a really intresting thing.

Another thing is that (I found out) that you could actually return that you have set 16:9 or 4:3 when the game (that supports 16:9) asks for it without a full boot, so you can have an option to have in enabled/disabled outside BIOS, possibly on GS tab.

EDIT: Offtopic but messing around with the BIOS I found that it has disabled/hidden by default the Debugging Options (PS2 TOOL?) menu and you can actually re-enable it. It is bloated with quite some intresting options but I heavily doubt they work on retail consoles anyway (actually I have no doubt they don't work and they are just visualy there).

Seems like a lot of effort for something so trivial.
I'll put it in the archive anyway, although it won't go in the cheats_ws folder. I also ported it to USA version 2.20.

Sure I've done it just for fun mostly, but wouldn't hurt if we'd port it to all (most) bios versions and there'd be a database that autopatches memory upon boot.

Also another request out from the list:

I think I could have done it just a bit better but I don't know how worth it would be.

PCSX2 newbie here, so forgive me if this problem sounds stupid. I did use Googlefu, but no results. :/

I'm trying to get the widescreen patch for Tales of the Abyss (UNDUB) to work. At first I thought it was because it was the undub version, but I saw a video on Youtube that didn't have any problems! I downloaded the newest build from Orphis, and it came with all the widescreen patches already extracted. Just in case, I did overwrite with a new download of the archive, and it didn't help.

When I load Tales of the Abyss, I get:
Quote:(SYSTEM.CNF) Detected PS2 Disc = cdrom0:\SLUS_213.86;1
(SYSTEM.CNF) Software version = 1.00
(SYSTEM.CNF) Disc region type = NTSC
ELF (cdrom0:\SLUS_213.86;1) Game CRC = 0x045D77E9, EntryPoint = 0x00100008
(SYSTEM.CNF) Detected PS2 Disc = cdrom0:\SLUS_213.86;1
(SYSTEM.CNF) Software version = 1.00
(SYSTEM.CNF) Disc region type = NTSC
(SYSTEM.CNF) Detected PS2 Disc = cdrom0:\SLUS_213.86;1
(SYSTEM.CNF) Software version = 1.00
(SYSTEM.CNF) Disc region type = NTSC
Overall 0 Cheats loaded
Overall 0 Widescreen hacks loaded

Emphasis mine.

Not sure what I'm doing wrong, or what I need to do to remedy this.

Is there a patch for the CRC of your game? E.G is there a file named 045D77E9.pnach in Widescreen cheats? If not, you may have to take the normal ToA one and duplicate it and name it that.
