Hi all
Sorry for beeing a noob
I observed that if i set my window aspect ratio to 16:9 and the boot xenosaga 1 then when game runs if i select in System-> Enable WideScreen Patches then  the patch is applied without me downloading any patch code .(i have version 1.60 of PCSXE2)

How does this work ? Do i stil need to download this patch or not ?

If the log-window states that widescreen-patches have been loaded and if the game
seems to be running in widescreen then a pnach for your disc have been found and applied.
You only have to download WS-patches if they haven't been included into "cheats_ws.zip" yet,
which can be the case if new ones have been posted with new and\or improved features.
Downloaded pnachs should be placed in a folder named "cheats_ws" in your pcsx2 folder,
and if such a folder doesn't exist then you create one.

"PS2 Widescreen.rar" might have later versions of the pnachs you make use of (or not),
To be sure that you have the later pnachs, you can extract "PS2 Widescreen.rar"
and move its "cheats_ws" folder into your pcsx2 folder.

//Widescreen hack 16:9

I found a different address for widescreen. It seems to be working properly in pcsx2, but
the only problem for me is that it is freezing on the loading screen on my ps2 console.

Would this be a case where I need an additional conditional code to pass the loading screen?

Can someone take a look at Blood Omen 2 (SLUS 200.24)?
I'm having no luck with it...

Edit: attached PNACH

Can anyone update this Widescreen patch? The PAL version has correct scaling. The NTSC version does not, it's squished. PAL version is locked to 50FPS, so not 60...well a patch for it to be 60 or NTSC's widescreen to be fixed would be good.

You can't just make PAL into 60 unless it has PAL60 mode, if NTSC is squished then it's possible it just needs an update.

Yeah, the Widescreen patch for NTSC overcompensates. The PAL versions patch is perfect. I'm not a patch maker though, but just noting the NTSC version of SR2 for PCSX2 does not have a proper widescreen patch.

Soul Reaver 2 NTSC patch no good, PAL works as intended

Unlimited Saga NTSC doesn't work on ps2, PAL works as intended

What I can say is that, some game Originally Designed in Europe, get the 50/60 label, and then are converted to NTSC, good example of that is I think "killer 7".

Its poor quality programming, it worked to pass quality tests, but over time, and use, it does fail flat. As for the NTSC PS3, it can't play PAL games it can play PAL 50/60 games............the PAL games work fine on the ps2 console, all the lcd tv's now support both formats, really no need to patch games.
.............
.............
Soul Reaver Games, had poor programming in general.............think about the unsightly psp soul reaver remake game, compare that to the ps1.

EDIT

I say Poor Quality Programming, but also with games like Summoner 1 and 2 on the PS2, you can see how the developer wanted to have frame glitches, low frame rates, or low asset loading...........just bad taste, and agenda driven developer dribble, the new consoles restricted creativity, but we still see some of that activity.

Hi!

I would like to request a widescreen patch for Spider-Man (SLES-50965) with CRC "85B332D9", which is the spanish PAL version. The existing fix for the english PAL version doesn't work on the spanish PAL version renaming "CB179BA2.pnach" to "85B332D9.pnach".

Thanks!
