PCSX2 - Widescreen Game Patches
That's so weird... okay, so you know for a fact that you're running the NTSC-U version and using the NTSC-U widescreen patch.

Can you take a screenshot of PCSX2 with the console log open (showing that it found the patch), as well as the game running right beside it?

For sure! I'll also take another screenshot of the game running without the cheat in the folder on a separate install. I'll include both log files.

I'd be happy to just play in 4:3 if we can't get it to work since I've only just finally got a computer this week that can run PS2 games : D

I tried 2 years ago and oh man, it was horrible : ( Now I can crank it up to x5 and the game is so pretty, no slowdown. It looks just as good, if not better than games made now at that poly count. It's actully amazingly impressive how many PS2 games look like PS3 games with this emulator.

Even the cell shading is amazing now. It never looked that good on PS2. Oh and this is my favorite rpg of all time <3 I want to do a review thing on it later once I've played back through it! *I never beaat the optional boss as a kid! NOOOOOOOO* so hard ;u;

I'm confused... it looks like the widescreen patch is working fine?

If you're referring to the map and the icons at the top being stretched, that's completely normal.

Or does the game just have extremely thin characters?

The Savestate feature can cause things like this.
Make a new comparison without loading Savestate.

Look at the box on the left bottom side. It's no longer a square, and it's in the same place. If wide screen is working should there not be more to the side of the box I can now see?

The whole hallway gets stretched out, I can't stand it : ( The character does get scaled a bit but your so tiny it's not a big deal. However this is a top down turned based rpg combat system so I'd love to see more during battle.

I will try again without the CPU thing

And yes they are very skinny Tongue

It is called barrel rendering, it is normal, there's no issue here. I'm sure atleast like half of PS2 (and not just PS2) get rendered that way.

This is widescreen with the hack loading and without, both are 100% the same. I thought it's suppose to look different than just forcing widescreen with no widescreen patch...

Here another screenshot

This is with the MTVU off, still no difference.

Maybe this games widescreenhack just doesn't work with the newer versions of the emulator? I'm actually going to dive in today for real and try to make my own... Just in case it's not a user issue *I still feel like I'm ding something wrong haha*

OH! you mean, don't run a load state at all! Sorry let me try that....

Success!!!!!! It was me using a load state to test the cheat! Thank Pgert! You Rock!!!

instead of a save state I just used the room outside the starting locker room. Since dragon quater uses fixed camera angles *like RE1* it's very easy to get the same comparison shot each time without save states. *the camera does move to follow you from it's fixed point*

Thanks for everyones help : D I'm so excited!

Instead of a normal camera system *in most places like towns* Dragon Quarter only shows you the story from the point of view of the security cameras. I is so amazing to finally get more Dragon Quarter Environment art! The world feels more open! There are whole parts of the game I've never seen hehe. Maybe not very important parts, but none the less fixed camera cut a lot of that art out : )

I wonder if I'll find any places they were expecting people to never see Tongue

Well, that's good.
And yeah, that's the cool thing about widescreen hacks, it feels more immersive and has the potential to show more art.

Anyway, back on topic.

Port requests are always open.
If someone could attempt Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone soon, that's be great.
