PCSX2 - Widescreen Game Patches
Here's the updated archive I alluded to in my last post.

Archive:
.7z   PS2 Widescreen (Aced14's enable condition updates).7z (Size: 7,57 KB / Downloads: 372)

Games:
  • Twisted Metal: Black
    • Twisted Metal: Black [Preview] (NTSC-U) [SLPS-200] [AF3E4E18]
    • Twisted Metal: Black (NTSC-U) [SCUS-97101] [073696DA]
    • Twisted Metal: Black (NTSC-U) [Russian Fan Translation] [PBPX-95506] [7ACF7E03]
    • Twisted Metal: Black [Demo] (NTSC-U) [SCUS-97164] [CFCBDF0C]
    • Twisted Metal: Black (PAL-Unk) [SCES-50360] [2E93D897]
  • Stretch Panic
    • Freak Out (PAL-Unk) [SLES-50310] [FE191134]
    • Stretch Panic (NTSC-U) [SLUS-20182] [854D5885]
    • Hippa Linda (NTSC-J) [SLPM-62109] [D4D45FF4]

Changelog:
  • Removed enable conditions that used to be in place to prevent startup/fast switching issues.
  • Kept enable condition in place for Twisted Metal: Black's Russian fan translation (since it uses an ELF launcher), but modified the enable condition's comment to remove any mention of it being needed for full boot.

Note:
  • This archive uses the same folder structure as the main widescreen archive, so feel free to drop its contents into the main one.
  • These updates are only for pnaches I've previously released. I didn't update anyone else's pnaches. So the NTSC-U version of Midnight Club 3 - DUB Edition Remix might still need updates.

From what I can tell, everything seems to be working as they should now (apart from some of GitHub issue 1482's leftovers).

I tested out my updated pnaches in an early June 2016 PCSX2 build vs one from a few days ago.

Tests and results:
  1. Tried full booting the NTSC-U version of Twisted Metal: Black. In the June 2016 PCSX2 build, the BIOS startup animation appeared, followed by a corrupted "PlayStation 2" logo screen, a black screen and a freeze. Nothing unusual appeared in the console. Worked perfectly in the few day-old build.
  2. Tried item 1's test with the NTSC-U version of Stretch Panic. In the June 2016 PCSX2 build, the BIOS animation appeared, followed by a black "PlayStation 2" logo screen and a freeze. A few errors appeared in the console. Worked perfectly in the few day-old build.
  3. Tried fast booting Twisted Metal: Black, then fast switching to Stretch Panic (i.e. "CDVD - ISO Selector - Stretch Panic - Reset"). In the June 2016 PCSX2 build, after Stretch Panic's company logo screens appeared, a bunch of TLB miss errors appeared in the console, then PCSX2 crashed. Worked perfectly in the few days-old build.

I'd recommend against doing this for the pnaches I updated. Both the old and new pnaches should work fine in every build of PCSX2 when fast booting. That's probably how the vast majority of users boot their games.

In pre-July 2016 PCSX2 builds, my old pnaches will work when full booting and fast switching, but the new pnaches won't. The old pnaches were designed to work around a full boot bug that caused crashes in older PCSX2 builds. The bug was fixed sometime in July 2016, so the workaround is no longer needed for post-July 2016 builds.

The bugs in pre-July 2016 PCSX2 builds may cause problems in hundreds of widescreen-patched games when full booting or fast switching them.

I'm not sure where to post this, so apologies if this isn't the thread for support.

The widescreen patches for both US and EU Ring of Red (version SLUS_201.45 - CRC: EB653BE2 // version SLES_501.13 - CRC: 9C4BA2CE) freezes the game when special ammunition is used (eg HEAT ammo).

That's a good place to post it, thanks.

Just to make sure though, with the widescreen patches disabled, it consistently doesn't crash, and with WS patches enabled it consistently crash (i.e. you tried it both ways few times and it's always the same)?

Yes, game plays without problems with the patch disabled.
When enabled, the game plays fine until the special ammunition is used, where the game will freeze on impact every time. The music keeps going and the explosion sound stays around, but the image and the game itself are frozen.

My own situation is identical to this thread, however different builds don't rectify it for me.

I'm making the patch for the game Simple 2000 Ultimate Vol. 2: Edit Racing [NTSC-J] (SLPM_651.07)

I found a widescreen value, but the Y-FOV changes:

patch=1,EE,001081CC,word,3C013FAB //3C013F80

If someone can help for fix the Y-FOV and complete the patch would be great.

Best regards.

Been about a month or two

Resident Evil Outbreak 1 (v2.00 hex values applied to v2.00 iso)
Resident Evil Outbreak 2 (hex values applied to iso)

You have to use a hex editor like "Winhex" to apply the .pnach file manually as hex values, so you have to convert the .pnach file until you see hex values like from here "ps2wide.net/r.html", remove the spaces from the values and apply the patch manually)

"ps2_patch_engine" breaks the .pnach file for those games, that why they did not work on the FAT PS2, but I retested myself and they do work on the FAT PS2.  (Crimson Sea 2 is another game that the the pnach did not work properly with black screen for game play similar to Resident Evil Outbreaks, so I'll retest that later and just update this post) (my original reply stated the widescreen patches just didn't work for Resident Evil Outbreak on the PS2 Console, that was wrong, using OPL Build 896_DB_All + Mode 3 Only + VMC from HDD).

"ps2_patch_engine" not breaks .pnach for REO
REO use compressed files for storing parts of the executable code so .pnach cant be converted directly to hex code
