Read first: Will PCSX2 run fast on my computer?
You may not get 6x native on every game, but that laptop will very well in pcsx2.

What category would an Intel i3 540 processor be put under? Would it be "Will work without compatibility problems, but will run slowly," or "Will work at a reasonably playable speed?"

Also, a GTX 550 Ti is a good enough graphics card, right? Pretty sure it's more than enough, but just double checking.

The GPU is fine.

The CPU is a bit on the slow side. With some speedhacks, you should be able to play the lesser demanding games.

Thanks anything i would be running into problems with? I'm looking forward to emulating lots of PS2 games. as the PS2 is close to dying

Would i be able to play the .hack G.U games at full speed? and games like that.

if you have an issue with one or several of your games, open your own thread.

we recommend a desktop quad core around 3.5 ghz per core (means not when using turbo boost, of course) with a mid range GPU.

the problem is when scaling a game to x6, the gpu will have a hard time, even if it's a powerful one.
Your dedicated laptop GPU is a good one, but will most probably be able to handle most games around 3x.
6x won't bring much improvements compared to 4x anyways.
What nobbs meant is some games may be so GPU demanding that your GPU will struggle even with native resolution
