Well the only reason I got the quad (bought it from newegg on Friday) was for GTA IV. Apparently, it's a core hungry app. So I'm happy with it.

To be honest, PCSX2 would just be like a hobby program for me, anyway. Nothing serious. I just thought it would be sort of cool to have Kratos be in a "computer" game instead of on the console.

So no biggy. Laugh

True. My Core i5 system would cost like a dozen of PS2 systems now but I still love to play PS2 game on my PC Tongue

i tried 'street fighter ex3' using gsdx in dx11 software mode and set it for 6 threads. it's actually slightly faster than dx11 hw mode! Ohmy i got 37 fps to 46 fps when playing 1 vs 3 (4 total on screen characters at the same time) in 6 thread sw mode.

whereas, in dx11 hw mode, i got 35 fps - 44 fps. once you get to around 2 on screen characters they level out on both sw/hw mode at around max ~50 fps.

unfortunately, this game doesn't age too well. Glare

Thumbs Down
I have this hardware.

AMD Athlon X2 240 2.8Ghz
Geforce 9500GT 1GB
4 GB RAM Kingston.

I was thinking to upgrade my micro to the Phenom II X4 965 3.4Ghz. Do you know if that would run Tekken 5 at 60fps? I barely get 35 frames with it and Virtua Fighter 4 as it is. It does work better with other games, even 3D ones.

Thanks a lot.

Just don't give me the "don't upgrade the hardware for emulation only", please.

Will it be fine with these specs?

i7 740QM (1.73-2.93Ghz) with Turbo Boost
8GB DDR3 RAM 1333Mhz
Nvidia Geforce GTX460M 1.5GB RAM GDDR5
Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit

Since it's a laptop, there'll be a heating problem right?

We don't recommend it. Several users reported erratic fps due to the turbo feature
switching on and off, along with the power saving completing the mess.

Well, that happens because the user toggles the turbo feature on and off during game,is it?
What if I play PCSX2 with turbo feature on during game?
I'll only play PCSX2 when it's power plugged since it's dangerous to depend on the battery life itself.
Would this way be safe?
Please advice me,thank you.

@michitos

I have a 4ghz cpu and I get from 50-60+ fps in tekken 5.
I would reccomend at least another 250-500mhz though, just to help the fps a bit more.

It's quite playable.
On 1 level it avg's 50fps, which is the lowest it gets in that game.

4ghz is good enough for lots of games.
But my personal opinion is that it's not quite enough.
