PCSX2 - Widescreen Game Patches
can i ask a question about this widescreen mode....
what's the purpose of this??
i mean what's the difference of widescreen game patch
compared to adjusting the aspect ratio on the GS Window tab(maybe to 16:9 or fit to screen)??
will the widescreen game patch give a better quality
or finer/better graphics???
i'm just asking cause i really just don't get their difference..
(by the way i'm a noob here)

Thanks. I see it know. Could you add following game as it was requested before the requests were closed. It is from my original post #1225, but for some reasons it didn't go to the request section.

PAL:
Ghost Vibration SLES_514.33

You can also move Michigan: Report from Hell to PAL games requests as it has never been released in USA. This is a shame, actually as it seems to be a nice horror game.

Look at screens of different games at http://ps2wide.net/ and decide for yourself. Widescreen hacks give an ability to play 4:3 games in 16:9 aspect ratio without image stretching or cropping. In short, you can get rid of black borders on your monitor without compromising the quality of the image.

cause the only game in me right now is tekken tag(my favorite game)...
and it doesn't have a widescreen patch so i can't compare..
hmm just last question(this is a bit off topic)
tekken tag was included on the REQUEST...
will it have a patch???
cause there's a note saying "REQUESTS ARE CURRENTLY CLOSED"

We don't know. We can only hope that someone like nemesis2000 or sergx12 is actually looking at the requests at all Smile I believe that eventually they will be fulfilled.

I have edited my post. I have missed a sergx12' great contribution. Many thanks goes to him for the job he has done! They do look at the requests Smile

1. Open the game image with HxD hex editor
2. Press Ctrl+R. Search for initial value (choose hex-values datatype):
00000000 00000000 43AD1346 00000000
3. Replace with widescreen value:
403F013C 00008144 43AD1346 02C60046
4. Save edited image.

That is it. You can run game and enjoy it in widescreen. For me, .elf hacks are much better than .pnach'es, as they are more universal and work on PS2 and PS3 with BC as well.

naark, here's also a little comparison.

(Widescreen hack)

(Stretched)

As you can see, the hack adds more environment, whereas stretched doesn't. So if you do stretched, you'll wind up with fatter, wider characters.

And Argon, we already have Ghost Vibration PAL. Check the archive. Happy
