Thanks. Does Wipeout Fusion have in-game widescreen? Wikipedia says it does, so why the patch?

There's an in-game widescreen option, but it's useless (vert-, 3D menu elements remain 4:3, etc.).
The patch activates the in-game option, makes it hor+ (singleplayer and splitscreen) and adjusts the aspect ratio of the 3D menu elements.

I also included a fix for the horrible chase cam, so the whole ship with jet streams is seen like in all other WipeOut games. The above first person camera and the other 2 camera positions remain untouched, and if someone still wants to have the screwed chase cam back, it's documented in the PNACH and can be commented-out.

Okay, I added Wipeout Fusion to the list of games with skewed widescreen then.

I think someone was just trolling with the filename.

Updated Ridge Racer V patches Smile

NTSC
.pnach   06AD9CA0.pnach (Size: 757 bytes / Downloads: 656)
PAL
.pnach   5BBC2F40.pnach (Size: 757 bytes / Downloads: 479)

- splitscreen mode now in (hor+) 16:9, too
- added comments in the PNACH file
- fixed chase cam as default (*)

This game and WipeOut Fusion are the only PS2 racing games I know, where the developers for whatever reason thought a chase cam that only shows half of the vehicle was a good idea:

(default chase cam)

With the fix the whole car is shown, as in other racing games:

(fixed chase cam)

(chase cam from Ridge Racer 7)

The default camera (bumper cam) is not affected by the fix and if someone wants the default chase cam back, instructions can be found in the PNACH.

(*) Including 'fixes' in widescreen patches is a bit critical, but in my opinion, it's reasonable here. Barely anyone who likes using the (optional) chase cam perspective would prefer a 'screwed' chase cam which is so close that only half the car is seen (and if so, the PNACH can easily be changed following the instructions).
On the other hand, most users will never look inside the PNACH files they are using. So when commenting out the chase cam fix by default, they won't even know they could have a 'normal' chase cam...

Woaw, I didn't check this thread for 3 months and I see you all worked hard (the patches archive reached 1MB Laugh )!
And now I can play Cold Winter PAL in WS = wonderful... :3
devina40 (for 16:9 patching) + doctorxyz (for GSM, forcing enhanced display) = epic for the most top master win! X)
or I should say "devina40 and his community + doctorxyz and his helper" Laugh

Very interested by the Wipeout Fusion patch, I'm looking forward for the PAL version port! Does the enhancements of this patch affect the 2-players mode too?

EDIT: the pnach for Cold Winter (PAL) works fine on a real PS2; the 480p works without crash but the display screen is stretched (this happen when you force NTSC on an optimized PAL version...) and too low, which makes half of the bottom HUD being off-screen :/ . To fix this, I suggest to move up the display offset a bit OR makes a 576p patch instead.
PS2 V9 Aquablue
- SCART RGB cable (with CSYNC) from retrogamingcables.co.uk
- Monster Cable Component (with audio)
- 2x wireless gamepads (Logitech)
- ARMAX with USB Key used for homebrew and saves transfert
- FreeMCBoot -> GSM, OPL, PS2rdMod (WS patching for retail games)
