Fair enough. I'm glad I tried the Bluetooth version for shiz and giggles I would have felt dumb if I found out it worked and I wasted money on an unneeded dongle upgrade
My dongle is:
AZiO BTD603-132 Bluetooth Adapter (Class 1 v. 2.0) USB 2.0 its deactivated now since its old.
The vendor id is:
USB\VID_0A12&PID_0001&REV_3164
Which sitting here looking at the inf I see the dongle id is already in there so ...meh
@ Scarlet.Crush: Just wanted to say again, thanks for the help and this has been a work of beauty. Wanted to chime in with my testings and results.
Got it up working via USB with a pre-install of the X360 Controller Accessories. After adding my bluetooth ID:
USB\VID_0B05&PID_179C&REV_0001 (Built-in bluetooth on an ASUS P8P67 motherboard)
And running a reinstall from SCPdriver, the controller auto connects and runs fine via USB and BT, acting as an XBOX360 controller. Hope my BT ID can get added for future versions. So far, I've had some furious bouts with friends in SSFIV:AE, some mad speed drifts in both Burnout Paradise and NFS:Most Wanted, and a nice start into Lego:Batman 2, all being recognized as an XB360 controller natively.
Great work, can't wait to see how much further this progresses.

However, I downloaded the XInput-Wrapper-SCP-2.2.1.88.7z file, extracted it, and I installed the Dualshock 3 drivers from the SCPFilterDriver file. When I go into an emulator and try to configure the buttons, all of the buttons work except for the D-Pad, L1 and L2 buttons; it made me very sad.
Is there something else I must download to make the D-Pad, L1 and L2 buttons work? I thought I only had to download the driver installer; I wanted drivers to be able to use my Dualshock 3 in any game I played.
Try installing the newer 4.1 version with instructions
here. There's also a modified Lilypad plugin with pressure sensitive buttons for PCSX2
here.
@rama: it just seems very odd that XInput requires admin rights, but DInput doesn't. You would assume that the vast majority of XInput devices are Microsoft product - not allowing ordinary user accounts to play XInput games is somewhat shooting themselves in the foot.
I've no idea what the criteria are for requiring a program to be "run as admin",
even when you're using an administrator account (with UAC turned off).
All I know is that it was annoying and I'm glad there's a way to turn it off and go back to Win7 behaviour.
Scarlett,
found an interesting bug with the ds3 drivers. When connected via bluetooth, if I try to shutdown my pc, the computer acts as if its shutting down, getting to the usual "shutting down..." screen, then the monitor goes black. however, the power stays on and doesnt shut off until the ds3 controller(s) connected via bluetooth are turned off by holding down the PS button, then the pc shuts off a few seconds later. I've tested this by leaving your service running, but not connecting a controller, and it always shuts off fine UNLESS a controller is connected. The weird part is sometimes it still turns off ok, but most of the time it doesnt shut off completely.
Oh, and also, for some reason now when I first start my pc, the scpservice doesn't notice the ds3 controller properly. ive checked and it seems to show my bluetooth adapter working fine, with the host address and all, but i have to restart the service for it to find my controller, or plug in via usb again first.
Has anyone confirmed the b1 revision controllers to be working? I tried picking one up this weekend but oddly enough all stores that ive checked are out of controllers. We just had a sell about a week or so ago on ps3 controllers, so i guess they sold like hotcakes lol. but I am curious as to if the b1 works. my a1 works fine.
To Ba'al,
Thank-you for pointing out the newer drivers to me! I installed them on my laptop, but the D-Pad, L1, and L2 buttons still no longer work. The Windows controller button testing thing only shows ten buttons on the controller. Maybe it is because I have a B1 revision controller? I bought it new about two weeks ago.
To Unvaluablespace,
No, I don't believe the drivers work properly so far with the B1 revision controllers. I have one, and both my desktop and laptop with the latest drivers and Xbox controller drivers (1.2 from the Microsoft website) installed do not report the D-Pad, L1, and L2 buttons at all. I cannot use them in anything; all the other buttons work fine though for some reason. I had bought the controller new two weeks ago.
@thebrain2u: added your hardware id to the inf/cat. will be available next release.
@unvaluablespace: Senti & thebrain2u reported they are using rev B1 controllers without issue. You also reported the controller not being recognised by BF3 and an emulator, can you test them again by right-clicking on their executable and selecting "Run as Administrator". I'll have to look into the shutting down issue (not seeing it myself)
@Bloodroke: can you verify that your D-Pad & L1/L2 buttons work correctly when your DS3 is connected to a PS3. May be a faulty controller since it's all the buttons on the left side of the controller. Does L3 work?

Yep, pressing in the left joystick for L3 works fine. I am noticing now that the controller makes random button pushes now for some reason. Could it be the cord I am using? I do not have an official cord from Sony; I am using a camera usb cord that fits in my controller. I tried another cord, but the same thing happened.
I don't have a PS3, nor does my best friend any more, so I have to go to another friend's house to try it. Nobody around here has PS3 any more, lol.
