@VagueMemories: if you don't have a C:\Temp folder create it. Copy the archive from your Downloads folder to it using Explorer. If you have 7zip installed, right-click on the archive, select 7zip -> Extract Here. Navigate to C:\Temp\ScpUser\bin\System, right-click on ScpFilterDriver and select "Run as Administrator".

1. Download the tool from

2. Stop the service [net stop "SCP DS3 Service" - from an elevated command prompt]

4. Run the tool and take a screenshot. [just need to see what the remote mac address is, don't set it]
5. Close the tool.
6. Post the screenshot.
7. Reboot. Let me know if you get a BSOD.

Something to note. I actually tried running this tool before you asked and was greeted with no MACs at all. This time however, they're there. And yes, consistent BSOD every time during the "Shutting Down ..." part of the shutdown sequence.
@Ashnal: your DS3 is correctly paired. I think the switch for your onboard BTH is switched to off, can you switch it to the other position. I have a similar switch for WIFI on my laptop, when switched off it just powers off the radio transmit/receive, it doesn't disable the device itself.
Note : when the service is running the devices are locked so you can't access them through ScpServer or the Tool.

See, my laptop doesn't have a physical switch. It has a touch sensor near the base of the screen that lights up when the device is on. As well, when the switch is off, the device disappears from device manager. From what I can see, it behaves exactly like an external bluetooth dongle.
I've double checked, and the device IS on when I remove the DS3. Is there just something wrong with it? I'll note that I was never able to get it to work with MIJ, even though it was supposedly supported and those drivers installed alright. I've never actually gotten the BT chip to work, as the only thing I've ever used it for was MIJ and now this.
@Ashnal: from the ScpService.log you provided earlier - the adapter is being configured correctly [all the HCI commands are returning success and correct data]. It's the DS3 that initiates the BTH connection when you unplug from USB or press the PS button, just not seeing any connection request being received from the adapter. So either the adapter or your DS3 is faulty [likely the former since you are getting BSODs].
Have you ever been able to connect any Bluetooth device to the Adapter using the Windows Stack? Do you have a Bluetooth enabled phone you could try to connect with?
If you disable the Adapter and reboot, do you still get a BSOD?
Does the DS3 connect over Bluetooth to a PS3? [if you have one]
You posted 2 hardware ids and one was for a Dongle. Which one was the dongle?

Two different dongles actually. one is the inbuilt chip, and the other is an external one I bought to see if I could get it to work. I don't own a ps3 (I bought it to be a PC pad specifically), I do however own a phone with bluetooth. I would need to find the default drivers for my chip though, since I lost them a looooong time ago when I tried to use MIJ when I first got the laptop and gave up on it. I'll see if I can find drivers and attempt to use the windows stack, I have a feeling I won't be able to find them though since my laptop is an MSI e7405, which is a lesser known model that's been discontinued.

2. Unplug your DS3 from USB.
2. Disable your internal adapter.
3. Plug in your external dongle to USB.
4. Plug in your DS3 to USB.
5. Verify that both dongle and DS3 values are displayed in ScpMonitor.
6. Unplug your DS3.
7. Post the ScpService.log

Let's see, after installing the driver for the external one, it comes up with a MAC of 00:00:00:00:00:00, which the DS3 won't pair with. Let me try restarting.
Thanks ScarletCrush, I'm almost there but it says install fail, does Windows 8 have anything to do with that?

@VagueMemories: was your DS3 connected via USB when you ran the install?
If the Pre-Install succeeded you just need to plug in your DS3 via USB now, the drivers should auto-install.
