Silent Hill has an interesting camera that changes its pivot rotation depending on the camera angle. There are 2 horizontal addresses that change the aspect ratio, but depending on the camera angle, one works better than the other. So both addresses need to be activated to take into account most of the camera's rotation, but some extreme rotated angles might look a bit off. As a result a little of the screen space may might take a reduction but works for the most part.

Below are additional codes that clip fog, change fog spread, and remove dithering. These are intended more for original console since using component cables make dithering look pretty extreme. Removing dithering shows extreme banding, but with some fog adjustments it can be reduced for clarity.

Some might point out adjusting fog may take away the original feel of Silent Hill, but these are just for fun to see what could be done on original hardware.

I actually found similar fog distance and clipping codes for the PAL version but not the US version yet. For some reason some codes change address depending on the camera angle and location of the character. As a result they have been tricky to track down.

This goes for the PAL version as well. There is also an additional code I found for the PAL and NTSC J version that combines both horizontal addresses to 1 single address but can show environment warping in some cases.
I'll share those as soon as I get a change if anyone is interested.

I have been playing around with all those widescreen patches lately...
Is there a simple way to patch the iso permanently ?
I was trying to get these widescreen patches working on real hardware(or ps2/3) without any extra cheat tools/shark.

I think that only some of them work with directly patching the ISO. I can confirm that Colin McRae Rally 2.0 works as a patched ISO on a real PS1.
I checked the list of all codes and there is one big series missing: Tomb Raider. I would be very thankful if someone can find the code for Tomb Raider 1-3. Smile
Additional widescreen codes I've had for a while, some are still wip. Also adding codes to remove dither for those who want to use them on original hardware.



Notes:

-Overblood and Gunnm already have existing codes in the archive, the ones on this list are different.

-Aconcagua needs a different widescreen address for different sections of the game including every cutscene unfortunately.

-Hellboy has a camera shake problem.

-Dragon Warrior VII has 2 different addresses, similar to Silent Hill. Also could not find an address for 2d sprites.

-Chaos Break NTSC J could not get the code to work on original hardware, only the PAL version.

-Mizzurna Falls only includes a dither off code, sharing a screenshot of the english translation patch running on original hardware with widescreen and dither off codes.
