LOL fine! you guys have convinced me , but one question, I've heard that windows 7 has certain app limitations. Will I be able to use all the apps i used on xp? I'm an emu guy so I'm worried that my mame and all my other 10 emus will continue to work on 7.

there is always xp mode in the pro and ultimate editions if you cant run them... probably they will work fine (specially if you keep updating them cause even the oldest emu's got some updates)

That Core i5-430M is typically a nice processor, but it's clock rate is still rather slow for PCSX2. Aside from using GSdx SSE4.1, there aren't really any plugins that will improve your performance. Use Speedhacks, for sure.

Your graphics card (ATI HD 5650, right?) isn't bad, and most likely will not have trouble at "Native" resolution itself. Maybe some games could even be bumped up a little... maybe...

It is a "good" laptop when it comes to normal PC activity/games, but the lower clock rate is what will cause lesser performance with PCSX2.

I've got Window 7 x64 running most everything fine. I've only found some ancient games/apps that refuse to run (like Rayman 2 for Window 95). For these, i can use Vmware Fusion with an x86 Windows XP install (which runs great actually, very fast even on a slower AMD dual core laptop). It plays games quite fast, even from the 2004-era of PC games (not tried any stressful newer game).

And for good measure, dosbox works great for old 1980/1990 games! You'll likely find you can do everything you need with Windows 7 x64, and you don't need to sacrifice anything if you know what to do.

As for emulators, not tried MAME, but even old emulators like ZSNES and such work perfectly on Win7 x64. I've yet to have any troubles with emulators.

Will a laptop with Core 2 Duo T6600 2.2GHz, 3Gb DDRAM3, NVIDIA GeForce 310M running Win7 32bit be able to run PCSX2 0.9.7?

It will but the processor is mediocre for PCSX2. You will get moderate speeds depending on the game of course. Best configuration would be the default (assuming you will use GSdx and SPU2-X)

Hi again, I'm now back with my CPU OC'd from 2.9GHz to 3.4GHz.

So I'm wondering if I could run the GTA "Stories" games (Liberty City and Vice City). They're not as graphically intense as God of War 2 since they are ports from the PSP, after all.
