^Sometimes people want to know whether a certain PC will run before purchasing it lol. But yea, it's very solid advice assuming you already have the PC.
well indeed this thread should be renamed, beacuse if it runs fast or not can be easly answered by just trying to run a game, this thread its more like "kind of minimun requirements for running this emu at decents speed",beacuse the minimum requirements in the faq are only for runing the emu,but not at decent speed
,lol a pentium 4 ..
Will it work on mine my specs are:
-AMD Athlon II X2 240 dual-core processor
2.8GHz, 2MB L2 Cache
-4GB dual-channel DDR3 system memory
-ATI Radeon HD4200 graphics
@ sakraycore:
True, but I thought that's what the new "Hardware/software discussion" was more suited for(?)... Maybe that's just my opinion. (This thread does say "my", indicating current ownership LOL)
Not to argue with ya, buddy. The thread is great for drawing any new-comers here, especially those considering a new PC. Not that long ago, I was one of them.
Had there been a "Hardware" section then, I think I'd have have gone there and asked about the PC's hardware in question.
Besides, If anyone actually reads the first post, they may be discouraged to ask "Will my system work? i have blah blah".
@ diegochiha:
This really seems to be a very generalized "What works/what doesn't" kind of thread at heart, and DOES make mention to levels of speed (vaguely). At this point, it usually comes down to the specific CPU or GPU one's looking at. A.K.A. Hardware.
No matter how you look at it, I'm sure this thread will remain as the "Come here first" kind of thread.
@ caktus-man:
You should find most of the
LIST-Games-that-don-t-need-a-strong-CPU to be playable. Just bare in mind your GPU is a little weak (or slow, rather). Be sure and use "Native" resolution. Also, games not on that list *might* work to some degree. Definitely worth a shot, I'd say.
Also,
these games are likely out of the question.
@caktusman
You can OC that cpu to the 3.0ghz area and get a better video card. It can play most PS2 games in full speed (with hacks of course) parterned up with a good GPU.
I finished Shadow of the Colossus and playing MGS3 on my machine. Both pretty demanding games.
@Bositman
Ok, i'll try it. I'm just afraid that it won't work.
The discussion about those, guys. i think the admins can make one section that are specially made for discussing more specific requirements. And that doesn't mean the "will pcsx2 run on my computer" will be igroned. It's just that this thread is only for general discussion.
And if we want to discuss something more specific, we can discuss it at the new thread that i mentioned to be created
hello, all. i recently built a new system with amd's phenom x6 processor. i ran several games side-by-side to see if there were any noticeable difference to my old system.
systems:
Code:
A6:
X6 1090T @ 3.2Ghz
8GB DDR3 RAM
Radeon HD 5850 2GB
W7 x64 OS
I4:
Quad Q6600 @ 2.4Ghz
8GB DDR2 RAM
Radeon HD 5770 1GB
W7 x64 OS
games (pcsx2 0.9.7.3129; no speedhack; gsdx):
Code:
GTA: Liberty City Stories
A6: 30 fps - 50 fps
I4: 8 fps - 12 fps
God Of War 2
A6: 32 fps - 45 fps
I4: 22 fps - 32 fps
The Getaway Black Monday
A6: 34 fps - 53 fps
I4: 32 fps - 50 fps
MGS 3 Subsistence
A6: 35 fps - 60 fps
I4: 33 fps - 51 fps
Ratchet And Clank 1
A6: 24 fps - 30 fps
I4: 17 fps - 22 fps
Killzone
A6: 26 fps - 42 fps
I4: 21 fps - 34 fps
There's big difference if you configured it properly.
Hi
What controls the speed of the game on the emulator? Is it the processor or the graphic card?
I have Core2Quad8300 with speed of 2.50ghz and the game speed is normally perfect using basic configuration like FFX, but there are certain scenes of the game where it can be laggy and I hate lag!
So, should I consider some overclocking regarding processor or graphic card?
I have 260GTX graphic card
Finally, I would like to thank the pcsx2 team for making PS2 playable on PC
yes you need some overclock in your cpu and also you need to use speedhacks and play with the settings in general
