Sorry for double posting but I had an idea and I need your opinion : I have a PS3, if I install Linux on it, I could run the game no ?
Imean, the PS3 is very powerful, I though it could be enough.
(02-12-2011, 04:07 PM)lazybones Wrote: [ -> ]You think 3.5 Ghz will be enough? The game lag very much, it's at 20 fps when i'm in the jungle (many trees animals etc...). And I never overclocked any pc =( it's possible to make a "turbo" mode, that i can turn on and off from windows ?
Enough? Hard to say without knowing what's enough in your opinion, technically. You should still expect some slowdowns at times (especially without Speedhacks and such), and IIRC, this game could be considered GPU heavy at times, so you probably should use native resolution with a your GPU. Honestly, I don't believe your current hardware could actually play MGS3 at a constant, perfect rate. All I know is; it's gonna take a high clock rate to have a potentially enjoyable level of playability with MGS3 on an Athlon 64 X2. Saying 3.5Ghz
or more is an educated guess.
"Turbo" in Windows? That'd be CPU overclocking with software, which is not as safe/stable as overclocking through your BIOS.

You could probably find more on that if you went to a forum/thread specifically about PCSX2 on Linux. Seems kinda silly to me, though. I thought the PS3 was backward compatible...
This still may not be the right thread to discuss this matters, still FYI:
Xenon is a tri core, and the only PS2 compatible PS3 models are the original 60 & 20 Gb. Japanese models have the full hardware.
European ones for example have a mixture of hardware and soft, aparrently, as we all know the bandwidth of the GSX or Graphics Synthesizer's EDRAM is hard to emulate. There is already a PCSX (homebrew, no linux needed) beta version, and a PCSX2, NullDC and Dolphin emulators are WIP for PS3, if someone's interested. No wonder why, DC and GC are PPC architecture, and the PS3's XDR 3'2Ghz memory seems quite appropriate for this tasks.
I have this hardware no my pc:
Processor: Intel Core i5 760 2.80GHz 8MB BOX
Memory RAM: 4GB
Video Card: Asus EAH5770 CUCore 1GB DDR5
and i have win7 as my OS
the version of PCSX2 is 0.9.7 and the GS is SSE4
So...why the games are so slow, like 6fps when i have disable the speedhacks
shouldnt work "perfectly" like 40 or 50 fps whit this hardware whitout speedhacks?

So I can try if I understood (I'm french, don't know if I did) huh ?
@ redhiseyes > I think your config is good enough but you maybe don't have configured PCSX2 correctly.
EDIT : bad idea, only for using a PS3 as a computer with Linux, people tells it's pretty slow. So I don't imagine PCSX2 running.
Hello, I just got a mid 2010 27" iMac
and it's a i7 870 2.93ghz quad-core, 8gb, ATi Radeon HD 5750 build. I've been having VIDEO issues on pcsx (set audio to async and it's speedy and clear). I've tried adjusting most of the settings, like speedhacks and dx9-11 and whatnot, but I can't seem to nail it, could someone point me in the right direction (P.S. Windows 7 x64 via Bootcamp, yes this is a slight slowdown but more than often performs better than native mac.) Thanks!
There's no real "Will PCSX2 run fast on my computer?" question, there. Your CPU and GPU are undoubtably capable of emulating most compatible PS2 games, even without OCing.
Perhaps you should search the forums for a thread regarding your same situation and/or problem. If you can't find one, make your own thread on your situation. Make sure you give a little better explaination on what you problem is ("having VIDEO issues" is very vague). Also, what game(s) you're trying could mean everything! Be sure and mention what your trying to play. If you feel it's all of them, at least mention a few of them.
hi...this is my first time using pcsx2, and i'm using the latest 0.9.7
the thing is, my game which are god of war II and final fantasy XII played at a very low fps which is 8fps, and the sound got something like a "buzzing" eventhough the dialogue can be heared.
my spec:
intel core 2 duo T6400 2Ghz
Nvidia 9600GT
4Gb DDR2 ram
Vista 64bit
i set the plugin
GSDX-SSSE3
SPU2-X r4270
cdvd gigaherz(r3429)
bios : europe v0.2
i didn't activate speedhack
i disable framelimiting
i use MTGS
so...why am i getting this low FPS plus with the graphic that have polygon?
Did you set GSdx to native resolution? I'm sure that would slow you down. A desktop 9600GT is pretty great, but the mobile variant (9600M GT) is more "good" for the cause.
Overall, you're going to have to use Speedhacks with most every game on a C2D at 2.0Ghz. Go ahead and do that now (enable them, the [Recommended] one's should be checked). You will most likely have to use the EE and/or VU sliders for the best speed. Which one(s) and how much will vary from game to game. Also, will vary somewhat in opinion. More use of the EE/VU sliders can "break" the game. How "broken" is "too broken" will be up to you.
In all reality, you're trying to play a couple of the more demanding games. But, if you experiment with the Speedhacks, you could get an acceptable level of playability.

nope...i didn't set gsdx as native resolution....
thanks, it kinda workout, manage to get 40FPS..i set the speedhack to "aggresive"...if i set to "aggresive plus" will it harm my laptop?
